ACCREDITATION:
Bucknell is a small, highly selective, independent, liberal arts and
professional university located in rural central Pennsylvania. Chartered in
1846 as the 100th college in the nation, Bucknell offers over 50 different
majors and special programs to our approximately 3500 undergraduate
students. Bucknell is accredited by the Middle States Association of
Colleges and Schools as a degree granting institution at the baccalaureate
and master levels. In addition, Bucknell's bachelor of science curricula in
chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical engineering and in computer science
and engineering are accredited by the ABET; bachelor of science curriculum
in chemistry is accredited by the American Chemical Society; the bachelor
of science in computer science in Arts & Sciences is accredited by the
Computer Sciences Accreditation Board; music curricula are accredited by
the National Association of Schools of Music.
CALENDAR AND CREDITS:
The University operates under a 16 week fall and spring semester system
and all credits are defined in terms of course units. One course unit is
defined as 4 semester hours or 6 quarter hours.
