LESSON PLAN No. 4

Course Tittle: Grammar Grade: 9

Unit: 3 Specific Topic: Environmental Problems in Guatemala.
Competence: Identifies and analyzes the reasons of the causes of main environmental problems in Guatemala and give
some solutions.
Rationale: The task encourages good learning habits and group discussions allow learners to share their opinions on
changes in the future.
Lesson Content:
INSTRUCTIONAL PRECEDURES:


a. Warm up: In a sheet of paper draw a diagram and write all the environmental problems that exist in
Guatemala.

b. Teaching Procedures

Presentation

Engage: Ss find the meaning of some words that they dont know but that are related with
the environment.

Study: Pay carefully attention to the T explanation and the presentation about the topic.

Activate: Make groups of 4 Ss, then the T is going to give them a worksheet that contains
some definitions of environmental problems in Guatemala and also the possible answers, so
first they need to read all the information, then the possible answers and finally paste the
answer in the correct place.

Controlled Practice: Draw a picture about one environmental problem in Guatemala.

Semi controlled Practice: Ss work in pairs to analyze 3 environmental problems in Guatemala
and how they are caused.

Free Practice: Divide the class in 4 groups, each group is going to have one specific
environmental problem; they need to answer Whyit is a problem? What affects what? How
doesnt it help the environment? One paper peer group.


c. Wrap-up: Watch the follow video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1KxC-S7QgA

d. Closure: Share with a classmate what of all the environmental problems that they saw in the video
exist in Guatemala.

e. Feedback: The T is going to say some words and the Ss need to say what the meaning of the word is.

f. Student Participation: In groups of 5 compare which problems they write in the diagram that they did
at the beginning of the class and write one solution peer each one.

g. Homework: Ss discuss with friends or family members what they think are the most common
environmental problem in Guatemala.
