An Enthusiastic Recommendation for TRISTEN SCOTT

No one who has met Tristen needs a letter of recommendation to confirm her
wonderful talents.

I had the privilege to be her professor in several demanding courses at the
University of Massachusetts / Amherst. In each class, she performed with
distinction. Students submitted weekly email essays, wrote papers, took quizzes,
taught at least one session and discussed significant topics that ranged from
medieval saints lives to Sherlock Holmes mysteries. In each assignment, Tristen
displayed intelligence, sensitivity to historical, literary and societal matters, all the
while demonstrating a likable sense of humor. She responded well to her
colleagues ideas and they, in turn, appreciated her insights.

These generalities about Tristens in-class accomplishments perhaps do not
adequately convey her value as a learner, leader and contributor to any task.
She reads widely and has developed a social conscience that predicts a
thoughtful, diligent and valuable colleague. One anecdote may sum up Tristens
ready effectiveness: she arrived in a class that I was teaching this semester
she was not a member and apparently chatted with the students. Once I
arrived and she left, one member said, She was your student? Wow! She knows
so much. I agree.

If you would like any further particulars, please contact me. For now, I wish both
you and Tristen good luck.
