On December 7
th
, Blackstones debate team attended the Ugly Sweater tournament held
at Brown University. During my first tournament, we had to go to different buildings for our
rounds. Since all of our judges were Brown students, we could ask them any questions about
themselves, college or debate after the round was over. In addition, our lunch break consisted of
interviewing previous debaters. Everyone attended or is attending different colleges with
different career choices. Each spoke of their experiences at college and gave us advice on how to
better prepare for college. Also, they talked about how they first joined debate, their favorite part
of debate and how it prepared them for college. After getting to walk around Brown a bit, Ive
grown to like the feel of the campus. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves which they
worked diligently throughout the buildings. I would really like to know more about how Brown
with financial aid and scholarships. In addition, I would like to know more about certain
requirements applicants need to have. Overall, I enjoyed the time I spent debating while also
learning about college life and how debate can help me prepare for it.
