Summarize the results of each assessment:
After taking the Myers/Briggs assessment I found that I would be classified as a guardian, with my
symbolic name of a provider. It says the personalities that best compliment mine are the healers
(INFP), and composers (ISFP). My letters were ESFJ with extravert being 64%, sensing 62%, feeling
57%, and judging 62%. It says about 40-45% of the population has the same temperament as I do. My
results described me as someone who prefers to get out and socialize to re-energize, seeing the world
with an emphasis on my 5 senses, making decisions based on personal experience and who is involved,
as well as leading a generally structured and decided life style.
The learning styles assessment says that I am an auditory learner, and that I learn best by being
presented with material in a vocal way whether that be through lectures, tapes, CDs, radio etc. It
suggests that I attend all lectures but continue to take notes to fill in the gaps and help reinforce the
material that I am learning. Also it suggests that after i write notes or read something I should
summarize and read it out loud.
My results from the multiple intelligences quiz showed that I am mainly interpersonal, followed
by linguistic, then musical, with logical visual at the same level, then naturalistic, then intrapersonal
and finally kinaesthetic. Which means that I am mainly people and word smart, with music, picture,
number, personal, and nature smart falling in the middle and the least body smart.
The VARK questionnaire showed that my results were visual: 2, aural: 12, read/write: 7, and
kinaesthetic: 6. Which means I show a strong aural learning preference in comparison to the other
learning styles. It also suggests that to improve my learning experience i should do things like attend
all classes, take notes, and basically discuss my questions and the material being presented to me to
best improve my overall chances for success.
Look deeper into the results to clarify strengths and areas needing development:
After taking these test I would say that my strengths in terms of learning is definitely aural, which
I think lend well to the fact that I would also be labelled as someone who is an extrovert and very
interpersonal. It shows that I excel in being told things as learner as opposed to maybe being shown
or having it written down. I think in terms of things to improve on as a learner I suppose there is some
discrepancy between the tests as one says my lowest is kinaesthetic and the other says that my
lowest is visual. But if i was to take both into account, they lend well to each other so it makes sense
that they would be on the lower side of my learning style/personality. So in order to improve these
skills I should try and take a more hands on approach to things so I can be more varied in my future
college experience.
Do you agree with your results?

On a whole I would say I agree with these results, I have taken some of these test in previous
years and had received similar results so it came as no shock to me when I got these results. As a kid
for as long as I can remember remembering things from an aural perspective has always been a
strong point for me. Whether that be with songs playing on the radio or things I was told in the
classroom I have always excelled in this area. Even this past year in college I found that if I just
attended all of my lectures I could manage at least a 70% on the tests or assignments without really
having to study, as long as I was actively listening and possibly taking notes depending on the class,
that being said I always try to study and really prepare myself for any test. Now when it comes to the
type of personality I have I 100% agree with the results I received I have always been at my happiest
when socializing with others, I love to get out and meet new people and really learn from the stories
and experiences that we can potentially share together. From a young age I was a social butterfly,
always wanted to talk to everyone, I used to walk up to complete strangers at 5 or 6 and ask them
how their day was going because it would intrigue me. I would always rather put others needs before
mine, no matter the situation, I just love to help as much as I can. On part of the Myers/Briggs
described my personality as 'needs positive reinforcement to feel good about yourself' and as much
as i hate to admit it approval from others is something I have always saute out whether that be within
a group of friend or just at work I have always tried my hardest to be the best that I can be and I
definitely excel when I receive that positive reinforcement from others, in fact when I worked at
McDonalds, after just 6 month and at only 16 I became a shift manager, and that was because they
really encouraged me to keep working as hard as I was and I loved the room I had to grow and excel
as an adolescence. But unfortunately at home I did not receive this positive reinforcement from my
mom and that drive to receive the attention I craved eventually back fired on me and instead of doing
positive things to get positive attention I did the later. So as I've gotten older I try to let myself receive
positive reinforcement from myself rather than relying on others.

Identify one specific change you would like to put in place in order to improve your abilities as a self-
regulated learner.

I would definitely like to start approaching tasks from a more hands on/kinaesthetic approach, for
example at work I need to learn how to take apart and clean all of the fryers. Instead of just having
someone explain the steps to me I would like to approach in a way that allows me to use my hands
and physically take it apart and clean it step by step and that way I would be able to ask questions a I
went along. I feel like that is something I could implement not only at work but also for school, if I had
to learn about all the bones I would get a group together and go to a lab with one of the skeletons
and physical sit there and touch and feel where each bone was so there would be a difference sensory
association rather than always relying so heavily on my aural abilities.

Discuss the insights you have gained through exploring your learning style profile. What new
strengths have come to your attention? What struggles have you become aware of that you couldnt
explain before? Have you developed a deeper level of metacognition? Do you feel you benefited
from this self-assessment process?

After completing this assignment it has really enforced the fact that I am a strong aural learner,
and that I definitely excel in social situations. It made me realize that I have the potential to really
stand out and flourish as a nurse someday and that makes me very happy. To be honest because I
have taken these tests before and having similar results I was kind of already aware of my strengths
and weaknesses as a learner but this time around I think I will try and take some steps to try and
change up the weightings of how I learn to better help me in future situations that may not always
present an aural or social aspect to them. I think that overall I am actually a pretty balanced learner
despite what these results say although I tend to rely heavily on things like auditory resources I can
almost always figure things out another way and I am very lucky in that sense. I feel that this time
around I related myself more heavily to these test and took them a little more seriously then I may
have done in the past and maybe in turn have developed a deeper level of metacognition because I
really thought about the different aspects of my life and how each of these tests related to them. In
the end I think I have benefited from this assignment and I actually quite enjoyed retaking and doing
some new assessments I feel like it is always beneficial to recognized what your strengths and
weaknesses are as a person and a learner because I feel like learning and developing as a person is
something that you never stop doing and taking a moment to reflect can really give a person a sense
of understand about who they are as well as how to improve in the future.
