New technology was invented so their was more
farming and food.
Pregnant women were healthier because their was
better food.

Urbanization
The movement of people from country side to city.
Struggled to survive in foul-smelling slums, they
were packed it tenements.
Buildings didnt have running water , no sewage
system or sanitation system, and waste
Rise of the Middle Class
Merchants who invested their growing profit in factories,
skilled artisans made up most of the middle class.
Middle class felt the poor were lazy and could not work their
way up.
Middle class families lived in solid, well-furnished homes,
they dressed and ate well.
