Teamwork and leadership (CLO 5)

Give an example that analyzes the importance and challenges of working in a team
during your Work Experience? Who did you work with? What were the roles and
responsibilities of each team member? Did you enjoy this teamwork? Give reasons.
Have you gained any leadership experience during work experience? Explain. Discuss an
example of how the organization you work for has had an impact on society
(e.g. Corporate, Social Responsibility CSR)


The team work is the best technique to complete the work professionally in a short
period of time. According to me I have worked in a group of two members to organize the
suppliers pre qualifications papers. I have worked with one of my colleagues to complete the
task in the shortest time possible as the work was overloaded in the commercial procurement
department. The work was divided equally between us in order to complete the task
successfully. My role and responsibility was to check on the companys license and some of the
important details of each company and then I had to enter them in the suppliers master sheet
and label them in the file. However, my colleague role was to check on the papers of each
supplier in order to separate some of the confidential papers that the DIFC would like to keep
private for themselves and then she had to organize those papers and label them in order.

This task had to be done in a team of 2 as it need some time to complete it if it was done
by one employee but within a group of 2 we had completed the work professionally in a short
period of time. It was important to work in a team in order to overcome the challenges that we
may face alone. For example, it would have been a very difficult challenge for 1 employee to
perform and complete the overloaded work within a short period of time but by dividing the work
we have guaranteed that the work will be done professionally within the time limit.

I did like this team work as I found that I am relieved and not so stressed to complete the
work by my own as the work will be divided between 2. And I also liked it as I had a colleague to
interact with which may improve my communication skills. And most importantly, I liked the team
work because think that it enabled us to perform the work more professionally than a single
employee would do. Regarding the leadership experience, I had no leadership roles assigned to
me until this moment in the work placement; but I have seen how the managers of each
department manage to control and rule their departments and employees to lead them to the
right path of performing and completing the work efficiently and effectively. For example, I found
that the managers allow the employees to complete the work through their own way, they tend
not to interfere with the method that the employees follow to complete the tasks as long as the
important steps are followed. And most importantly, I found that the employees can refer and
ask their managers for any inquiries without being scared of them. I think this is the perfect way

to have the best relationship between the employees and their leaders as the good relationship
has a positive impact on the employees work.

DIFC provide the right infrastructure and platform to help the organizations and the
community grows and expand their businesses and operations from the Centre. The DIFC
offers an environment of continues learning, challenging experiences, and enriching career
opportunities as they are dedicated to strengthening corporate responsibility, building public
trust, and making a positive impact in the community by offering a complete city inside a city
including their own separate courts.



Work related practices and procedures (CLO 6)


Compare the practices, environments and procedures of your workplace with those of
HCT (consider orientation, on the job learning, feedback etc.) Describe how you set your
priorities each day and how you manage your time. What do you do if you are not given
enough work? What do you do if you have too much work or you find the work to simple
of too difficult?


I found that the workplace is similar to the HCT regarding the attendance procedures as
I found that it is very important for all of the employees and us the interns to arrive on time and
leave at the specified time given to us. I think this is similar to the HCT as we were taught from
the HCT to never be late and to not be absent without a convincing excuse; these procedures
and rules were the same at the workplace. I also found the practices that they follow when they
explain the work or the job to me as an intern was somehow brief, they rely sometimes on my
analyzing skills to complete the work. For example, the explain the job and then sometimes I
had to relate the work and see the previous tasks that another employee had did to complete
the work and follow his/her procedure. I think the workplace rely on the independent learning
similar to the HCT, as the HCT had taught us to rely on ourselves and learn by our own to
improve our critical thinking skills. Regarding the feedback on the job, I found that the HCT
gives a much more specified feedback on the work that I have completed because here in the
workplace they dont tend to give detailed feedback like whether done good, or not.

According to me, I organize my time and divide the work they have given to me on the
days I have got to complete them from the moment they give the work or task to me. I realize
how much time I need to complete one task or in my case one file and then decide how much
files I should complete in each day to complete and finish all of the files in the shortest time
possible. And whenever I had no tasks or no work to do, I tend to ask my supervisor or the
employees working in my department for any tasks that I can do. If I had a lot of tasks, I try to
organize my time and try to work much harder to complete the tasks within a time limit without
getting stressed. And whenever I find the work too difficult, I tend to ask in order to understand
better and then the task would be much more clear and easier to accomplish. However, if the
work was too simple, I try to finish it very quickly in order to ask them to give some more work or
tasks.
