Chapter 1 #1 What is the
IGeneration ?
Children born after 1990s between the ages of eight
and 18 are considered to be the IGeneration. These
children have practically been born with cell phones
and computers in their hands. According to our text
95% of 12 through 17-year-olds are online already 80%
of whom already have social media such as Facebook
and Twitter. This is a major reason I believe technology
is so important in K-12 grade education.
Chapter 1 #2 What is TPACK
and what role does
it play in education?
Technological pedagogical content knowledge is known
as TPACK. Content knowledge, pedagogical knowledge,
and technological knowledge are the three different
forms of learning that teachers must combined and
enforced in their teaching in order to achieve the full
potentials for 21st century learners. Content is the
general study required, pedagogical is the specific
teachers knowledge referring to teaching and
technological knowledge is how you involve computers
and technology into the classroom. This is why TPACK
is a great way for educating in the 21st Century.

Chapter 2 #1 How to
determine your
teaching
philosophy?
In chapter 2 they discuss a few teaching philosophies
and give you an example to determine your own
personal teaching philosophy. One of the philosophies
they disgust is very strict teachings base on their own
thought and feeling, while the other teachings are a
more carefree do what you want environment. While
small parts from both would be ideal; neither are
considered a good teaching philosophy due to being to
close minded on both hands. I think it's a great eye-
opener and believe that not every student is the same
and your teaching philosophy should be geared around
that theory.

Technology.

What are the
four learning
theories?
Behaviorism, cognitivism, constructivism, and
constructionism are four learning theories in teaching that
educators tend to follow at least one if not a combination.
Behaviorism believes learning is in memorizing,
demonstrating, and imitating. The learning in this is memory
task and recall. The teacher or computers are the source of
knowledge. Cognitivism is learning such as memory,
motivation, perception, attention, and metacognitive skills.
The teacher is the coach, facilitator, and partner.
Constructivism is a process of manipulating and
interpretative in the surrounding world in different ways. No
reality except through the individual. Computer activities are
the learning skill rather than the teacher. Constructionism is
the last term. It was created by computer pioneer Seymour
Papert, and emphasize that learners build their own
knowledge. A different knowledge is created by
children/students in learning if they themselves are the ones
who created or help in creating the learning tools. (Learning

How are
students
assessed and
evaluated?
There are so many different ways students are assessed and
evaluated every day. By teachers, the state and national
testing. On a daily basis teachers are assessing students in
the classroom with questions and answers to test taking and
quizzing. Other ways are state test or standardized testing
where students are tested in each particular subject for a
overall score. I was very shocked when I read how much the
children are evaluated throughout each year and it seems to
be necessary in order to see where student needs help in
particular areas.

What is
Electronic
Grading and
how is it
beneficial to
teachers and
students.
Electronic grading is a way to input different scores for
different assignments and the grading system outputs a
grade automatically according to the teachers grading scale.
For example if your test are worth 40% quizzes are worth
20% attendance is worth 10% and your assignments are
worth 30% equaling a total of 100% The Electric grading
scale would automatically input and give you a total grade
for all assignments. Not only does this stop mistakes that
teachers may make in grading but gives students and
parents a way to see their progress as they go along. This
also gives teachers less time spent grading and more time to
teach.

Citizenship
How to evaluate if
the information
you're getting
online is accurate
or just people
post?
At the University of Hawaii Honolulu they have studied to find out
how to process all the information that is online. They have come
up with six questions student should ask themselves while
researching online.
1. Is there an overload of info being presented?
2. Are the visuals used to enhance the text present?
3. To the graphics take over the webpage?
4. Are there a lot of media techniques used?
5. Is the information organized and clearly presented?
6. Does the site meet the needs visual, auditory, and kinesthetic
learners equally?
These questions will help students to eliminate unwanted research
or unnecessary cognitive load.

Is plagiarism and
cheating getting
better in schools
now or worse?
Unfortunately because of all of the new and fast technology like
computers, cell phones and other data there is even more cheating
and plagiarism. There are different ways to prevent as much as you
can by being clear with assignments and staying up on the progress
of those assignments by checking work throughout the projects.
And keeping eyes on the class while testing are some of the best
ways in managing cheating and plagiarism in the classroom today.

How do teachers
find the time or
plan for field trips?
Technology has come a long way and Virtual field trip are one of the
benefits of it. Virtual field trips are a great way to use technology in
the classroom. Not only can it take your whole class to a place like
the United States Capitol building in just seconds but it gives
students first-hand knowledge by seeing these different places
themselves. This would not only be fun for students but would be
teaching children at the same time, also taking less time away from
classroom then if you were to go out of class for a field trip.

Chapter 7 #1
Exploring
problem-
solving with
software apps
and games.
What are
serious games?
Serious games are digital games for learning. These are
unlike other games which are based for entertainment.
These digital games or serious games are computer and
web-based games that are made for educational purposes.
They are being used in elementary schools now to increase
motivation and engagement of students and to move
readily, convey academic material. Something I believe is
very important and 21st-century learners.
Chapter 8 #1
Communicating
and
collaborating
with social
media
How is social
media
technologies
used in today's
teaching?
There are many ways social media technologies Aidan
today's 21st-century students and parents. Things like
email, teacher or classroom websites, blogs, online
discussions, and wikis are some of the great social medias
that teachers and students used to communicate on
extremely faster and easier basis.
Chapter 8 #2
Communicating
and
Collaborating
with social
media
How does
technology
help in
communication
with students
and their
family?
Technology plays a key part in communicating and
educating and out of the classroom in today's teaching
world. Evening society computers phones and tablets are
commonly used at home. These devices help the parents to
easily look at what is going on in the class that week or how
their child is doing in class. Events can be easily posted on
class sites for an easy reminder to parents so that they can
check what the child may need for the next day. Also,
parents may request teacher meetings.

Chapter 9 #1

Expressing
Creativity with
Multimedia
Technologies.
What is multimedia and
how is it important in
the classroom?
Multimedia means "The presentation of materials
using both word and pictures." This means giving
lessons and using visual such as YouTube videos or
power points. This increases students attention.
Visuals give students a way to put a picture with
what the teacher is explaining. It is a visual memory
that makes it easier for students to recall what was
talked about in class. Pausing to have discussions
during videos and rewinding in order for students to
see all the information that is relevant in the
teachers clips is great to help students store
information.

What are some good
classroom projects that
promote literacy
learning and lower-level
grades?
Alphabet books seem like a great idea for younger
elementary. This allows students to put what they
think of when they think of their letters. Students
can draw a picture of each letter and their sounds.
This gives students a great way to be involved. I
will definitely use it and my own teaching. Concept
books offer another opportunity for teachers to use
digital photography to promote literacy learning.
Most of these are used for single subject such as
shapes, signs, colors, numbers, words, patterns etc.
Chapter 10 #1

Promoting
Success for All
Students
through
Technology.
What is multicultural
education and why is it
important to American
education?
Historian Ronald Takaki observed, "America is a
nation people by the world and our schools reflect
the richness of American diverse." This is one of
the best ways I've ever heard America explained.
Our country is diverse and this multicultural
education is based on the ideas of James Bemiss.
Which is all students regardless of their gender,
social class, racial or cultural background should
have equal opportunities to learn in schools. This is
extremely important in my eyes in school and
society today. We are all created equal, especially
the children and they shouldn't have to suffer due to
the ignorance of others.

Chapter 11
Engaging
students and
performance
assessment in
reflective learning

#1
What is a digital
teaching
portfolio?
A digital teaching portfolio also known as multimedia
portfolio or electronic portfolio is a collection of
educational and professional materials stored in an
electronic format. It is a collection of work that shows
off teachers development and growth overtime. From
the time you begin college you can collect all of your
data to be showcased on a database. As a early teacher
this may help you out in different aspects of teaching.

#2
What is pre-
assessments and
how are they
beneficial?
Preassessments occur before introducing a new lesson,
topic, or unit as a way for teachers to determine what
students know or can already do in order to inform
subsequent plans for teaching. This is part of prior
knowledge-based learning, which is the idea that when
teaching new concepts teachers need to connect their
lessons to what students already know or have been
taught. This helps in making your lesson plan for that
grade, knowing what the students already know give
you a basis of where you need to start from. It also
helps students to be involved more having some
knowledge of what is being taught in the classroom.
Chapter 12
Integrating
Technology and
Creating Change
as Teacher
Leaders.
#1
As a teacher, how
can you use the
technology we
have in your
classroom
successfully?
The unfortunate part about teaching is each classroom
is different. While some classes may have computers
for every student other classrooms in the same grade
have one computer for the class. This makes use of
technology more difficult. As a teacher, you will need
to think carefully and creatively about how to use
whatever technology is available to achieve maximum
learning potential. Ask other teachers what they have
done? Also, get opinions from students on what is best
in their eyes.
