Chattishgarh govt asked corporate to deposit CSR fund into CM

CG govt. asked all the corporate to deposit amound as mandated by CSR bill 2012. CSR bill mandate all
profit making entity reporting 5 cr or more profit in last three years to spend atleast 2% of their average
profit towards CSR activities.
Opponent claims that this runs contrary to the spirit to CSR. The udea of bill was to allow coprorate to
spend on CSR in the vicinity of their operation. While at the same time, it cant be left to corporate
otherwise it will be escape route. Coporate may spend on promotional activities being masked as CSR
2. Coal India Union defer strike
Coal India union deferred planned strike against centres stake sale in public market. CIL deferment
came after extracting few gains for its members: first, giving employment to dependent son of female
employees taking VRS. CIL also agreed to offer post retirement medical benefits to workers against the
current practice of extending this benefit only at CIL hospital.
3. Jute mill CEO lynched in Bengal town
The gruesome incident occurred on the factory premises reportedly after the CEO had held a meeting
with the workers of the ailing jute mill to facilitate production. Trouble was brewing in the mill for
several days after the management had reduced the duty hours of the workers, thus reducing their pay.
The factory had remained closed for several months prior to the recent elections and opened only in
April. CEO dies due to injury.
