How floods form?

Floods are one of the most horrible terrifying naturel disasters that could ever happen to
you. They occur nearly everywhere in the world. It is common that you use sand bags for
your house so the water will not come in. They cause a lot of damage to repair to. There are
numbers of ways that can cause a flood to start, like when there is a heavy rainfall, snow
that melts into water, broken dams, river floods etc.
A flood is a great overflowing of water onto land that is not usually submerged.
Floods occur when there is too much rainfall, when there is a storm, when there is melting
snow and when there are broken dams. Broken dams means when our dam is broken water
will not be able to drain out and it will overflow.

Across Australia, especially in Victoria nearly 30 bridges have been washed away due to
floods. There are different types of floods such as flash floods, river floods etc. River floods
happen when the river when the river is overflowing with water. A flash flood occurs when
there is due to heavy rain.

Land is able to flood very quickly after heavy rainfall. There are other floods that can happen
when there is no rain at all. You are probably wondering where all the rain from the flood
goes, well some of it is snow and it goes to the mountains. Some goes to the river and some
water evaporates.

Floods can cause death by drowning, and serious injuries. They say that is good if you have
your radio on when there is a flood because you will know where to go. Floods are very bad
disasters and lots of people die because of them.
