ABSTRACT

Security is the main concern for everyone. Home security has been a major issue where
crime is increasing and proper measures are to be taken to prevent intrusion. GSM based
security system is much more effective than an ordinary security system. The aim of the
project is to create a cost effective solution that will provide controlling of home
appliances remotely and will also enable home security against intrusion in the absence of
home owner.
The components used for the project are 8051 microcontroller, transformer
12v/500ma, voltage regulator (7805), capacitors, LCD display, buzzer, sensors, relay,
GSM antenna. The microcontroller 8051 is brain of whole project which provides
intelligence to security system. LCD is used for visual display.
The free standing intrusion detector has a transmitter coupled with a portable
receiver to alert the homeowner that an intrusion has taken place or occurred within a pre-
set time period. The area under surveillance is monitored by a detector which activates
the transmitter upon the detection by sensor. A radio signal is emitted by the transmitter
which is received by the receiver.
