The Globe Theatre

The high culture of the Elizabethan renaissance was best expressed in its
theatre.The Globe was the most magnificent theatre that london had ever
seen and built.But before any theatres were built plays were perfomed in
the courtyards,nobelmen houses or in extreme circumstances on open
garden.First open theatre was the Theatre further open ones includethe
!ose,the "wan,the #ope and the rivalry between them was
enormous.The Globe Theatre built in $%&& by the 'ord (hamberlain)s

The theatre was three stories high and a total capacity of three thousand
people.The success of the Elizabethan theatres was such that other forms
of Elizabethan enetertainment were being seriously affected.The
Elizabethan general public +the (ommoners, reffered to as groundlings
or also penny stin*ers who would pay $ penny to stand in the -it.They
also threw rotten fruit and vegetbles if they didn)t li*e the play.The .two

actors.the plays were held in the afternoon,because,of course,there was

perfomance.0any times the actors didn)t get their own lines.They did
the/cue acting/ which meant that there was a person bac*stage who
whispered the lines to the actor.This rapid turnover led to another
techni1ue called .cue scripting/ where each actor was given a script with
only his lines.The term .Box 2ffice/ comes from the boxes where
audience had to put pennies depending where they want to be sited.
