NETS-T
1. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning
and Creativity
Teachers use their knowledge of subject
matter, teaching and learning, and
technology to facilitate experiences that
advance student learning, creativity, and
innovation in both face-to-face and virtual
environments.
2. Design and Develop Digital Age
Learning
Experiences and Assessments
Teachers design, develop, and evaluate
authentic learning experiences and
assessment incorporating contemporary
tools and resources to maximize content
learning in context and to develop the
knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified
in the NETS S.
5. Engage in Professional Growth and
Leadership
Teachers continuously improve their
professional practice, model lifelong
learning, and exhibit leadership in their
school and professional community by
promoting and demonstrating the effective
use of digital tools and resources.
1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did
you learn about technology facilitation and
leadership from completing this field
experience?
I learned about the important role that media
specialists play in a school without a
technology specialist. They help teachers
utilize instructional technologies in their
classroom. The media specialists research
many different technologies to introduce to the
staff during optional training sessions. We
had some informational discussions that led to
innovative ideas for teachers and the
resolution of some minor technology issues.

2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge
(what must you know), skills (what must you be
able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs,
enthusiasm) required of a technology facilitator
or technology leader? (Refer to the standards
you selected in Part I. Use the language of the
PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all
3knowledge, skills, and dispositions.)

A teacher must know who to go to for help with
instructional technologies; this is where media
specialists can step in to help when a school does
not have a technology specialist on staff. Media

specialists can illustrate how to correctly use the
piece of technology, in order to create multi-media
lessons that engage students. A teacher must be
able to properly incorporate the technologies into
lessons, so that the student may benefit from the
software or device in class. For instructional
technology to truly help a student, a teacher must be
willing to ask for help when they feel unsure about
the use of instructional technologies and utilize the
advice.

3. Describe how this field experience impacted
school improvement, faculty development or
student learning at your school. How can the
impact be assessed?
Media specialists play an important role in the
proper utilization of instructional technologies in
the absence of a technology specialist. The teachers
that were assisted during this process were grateful
for the help with the software and devices in their
classroom. I think that teachers at my school are
becoming more aware of the vast amount of
technology knowledge that our media specialists
possess.
