Futurism
Futurism was an artistic and social movement that
originated in Italy in the early 20th century.
It emphasized and glorified themes associated with
contemporary concepts of the future, including speed,
technology, youth and violence, and objects such as the
car, the airplane and the industrial city.

forms of art, including painting, sculpture,
ceramics, graphic design, industrial design,
interior design, urban design, theatre,
film,fashion, textiles, literature, music,
architecture and even gastronomy.

Boccioni
Umberto Boccioni is one of the most important artists of this genre,
he was a painter and a sculptor.

In this work the artist still
represents the subject in its
original shape almost mirroring
the reality.

With Unique forms of continuity in Space,
Boccioni wants to symbolically represent
movements and fluidity.

You can easily recognize a human figure who is
walking however some parts of his body such
as his arms are missing.

The figure is interesting from the anatomical
point of view, you can easily recognize the
muscles of the calves for example.

The wors is characterized by alternating
cavities, surveys, plans and voids that create a
fragmented and discontinuous chiaroscuro.

The contours of the figure are not regular but
sometimes they are convex and sometimes
concave and this fact expands space.

This sculpture is very famous in Italy because it
is depicted on the back of the twenty- cent
coin.

Dynamism of a soccer player
With this work Boccioni wants to
represent the sensation caused by a
player who is running!

This painting consists of three main
elements: different geometric
shapes that are overlapping, the
succession of light and shadow, and
finally different colors.

The main colors of this work are: the
green of the grass, the yellow of the
light and the light blue of the air.

The alternation of colors and shapes
increases the dynamic effect of this
painting.
