To update your
extract, you
can choose to
perform a full
or incremental
extract refresh.
Salesforce
Salesforce.com is a web-based customer relationship management (CRM) application. You can
use Tableau Desktop to directly connect to Salesforce.com so that you can analyze and answer
questions about your accounts, contacts, opportunities, etc. In addition to Salesforce.com, you can
use Tableau Desktop to connect to Force.com and Database.com.
Log in to Salesforce
On the Connect to Data page, select Salesforce.
Then, log in with the username and password
associated with your Salesforce account. By default,
login.salesforce.com is listed as your server.
However, you can change the URL to connect to
test.salesforce.com or another domain.

Use built-in queries
Connect to your Salesforce data using one of nine
built-in queries. These queries contain commonly
used tables and joins. Alternatively, you can also
create your own custom query.

Extract data
After completing the steps in the Salesforce Connection dialog box, Tableau creates an extract of your data.
Note: Because of limitations in Salesforce, the extract process can take up to one hour, depending on the
query.

You may be required to enter a
security token to successfully
connect to your Salesforce
data. If a security token is
necessary, append it to the end
of your password.
After the initial extract of your Salesforce data is created, Tableau recommends publishing it to Tableau Server,
and use it for any subsequent connections.
