MEDT 7461 Comparing the different types of instructional design models enabled me to investigate distinctive learning styles and how those styles impact student achievement. Within the course of my research, I was able to determine how these styles supply educators with the means for achieving optimal student success in and out of the classroom. (AASL 1.1, AASL 3.4, AASL 4.4, PSC 1.e, PSC 3.c, NCATE 1.e, NCATE 3.c)
MEDT 6466 Creating a Prezi presentation that illustrated the impact that a school library media center and its programs has on student achievement, enabled me to better understand just how essential it is for me to be an advocate for not just the library program in my school but every program in the country. (AASL 3.1, AASL 4.4, PSC 1.e, PSC 7.d, NCATE 1.e, NCATE 3.c) Portfolio Matrix M.Ed./Add-On/Initial Certification in School Library Media
MEDT 7474 With each review of a particular resource, I was able to discern just how vital it is for a school library media specialist to understand the role that he/she plays in being an information specialist. In this particular case, I was familiar enough with the resources to be able to identify those that would be ensure student success if used. (AASL3.4, PSC 3.c, PSC 7.d, PSC 7.e, NCATE1.e, NCATE 3.c)

Media Specialist as a Teacher MEDT 6466 Book Talk
MEDT 6466 Creating a two year plan of programs for the school library media center enabled me to better understand that in developing that plan I must bear in mind the schools strategic plan, curriculum, and the diversity of the schools student body. Additionally, I must implement that plan as I engage and collaborated as I work with teachers to promote literature, reading, and technology. (AASL 1.3, AASL 2.2, AASL 3.3, PSC 1.f, PSC 3.c, PSC 4.a, PSC 7.c, PSC 7.d, NCATE 1.f, NCATE 3.c, NCATE 4.a)
MEDT 7474 There are many avenues to collaborate with a classroom teacher, but one of the greatest ways is to generate a pathfinder. The pathfinder includes Portfolio Matrix M.Ed./Add-On/Initial Certification in School Library Media
instructions or links to websites for information on a particular topic. It is designed to work well with diverse students but with special attention made to the integration of instructional technology. The pathfinder I created was intended for use by high school students in an American government course researching the federal government. (AASL 1.3, AASL 2.2, AASL 3.3, PSC 1.f, PSC 3.c, PSC 4.a, PSC 7.c, PSC 7.d, NCATE 1.f, NCATE 3.c, NCATE 4.a)
MEDT 6466 A book talk is a great way to entice readers that are having difficulties or as a way to ignite a new interest. But, it is also one of the best ways for a media specialist to promote reading/literacy to patrons. In the book talk that I created, I presented patrons with a plethora of Halloween reading material available in the SLMC. (AASL 1.3, AASL 2.2, AASL 3.3, PSC 1.f, PSC 2.1, PSC 3.c, PSC 4.a, PSC 7.c, PSC 7.d, NCATE 1.f, NCATE 3.c, NCATE 4.a)

introductory resources to adapt for use with students in their content area or grade level. The development of this module enables me to be seen as not only a technology expert but also a leader in the school. (AASL 1.4, AASL 2.4, AASL 4.2, AASL 4.3, PSC 1.g, NCATE 1.g)
MEDT 7477 The process of interviewing three librarians at three different levels permitted me to see just how complex and versatile librarianship is. I spoke to an elementary school media specialist, a high school media specialist, and a public librarian in my quest to better understand how patrons access and use reference resources. As I was able to be educated on this subject, I began to also realize how important it is and will continue to be to nurture a relationship with the local library because it is another resource at my disposal to use for the benefit of those whom I serve. (AASL 1.4, AASL 3.1, AASL 4.1, PSC 7.f, NCATE 1.g)
MEDT 7461 In an effort to serve as a leader and information specialist in the school setting, I created a year-long professional development plan centered on infusing technology into the classroom. Teachers are able to Portfolio Matrix M.Ed./Add-On/Initial Certification in School Library Media
receive PLU credits for attending any of the workshops. (AASL 1.4, AASL 2.4, AASL 4.2, AASL 4.3, PSC 1.g, NCATE 1.g)

Media Specialist as an I nstructional Partner MEDT 7477 Digital Storytelling Kit
Media Specialist as an I nstructional Partner MEDT 6466 School Wide Program
MEDT 7461 The student/client project showed me how to look at data provided by the Georgia Department of Education to determine how demographics and socio-economic status effect student assessment and instruction. Knowing how to research and discover this information, enables me to be knowledgeable about the current standards of those students in a particular school or school system which then lends me to be able to discuss with teachers or administrators at length and to be seen as a leader within the school and community. (AASL 1.1, AASL 2.3, AASL 3.2, AASL 5.4, PSC 4.d, PSC 7.c, NCATE 4.d)
MEDT 7477 Being able to collaborate with teachers on curricular topics enables a media specialist to be seen as an instructional partner. One way to do this is to create a digital story kit that provides the basic keys to creating a digital story. In the kit that I created, students are able to create a story on the Revolutionary War. Because of Portfolio Matrix M.Ed./Add-On/Initial Certification in School Library Media
this resource, students and teachers are able to view me as a information specialist because of the information provided in the kit. (AASL 1.1, AASL 1.2, AASL 3.2, PSC 1.f, PSC 4.a, PSC 7.d, NCATE 4.a)
MEDT 6466 A school wide plan allows me to work with all departments and teachers to develop materials that are not only correlated to standards, but enhance the learning experience for all populations of students. The plan that I created is based upon a fairy tale unit taught to every student in an elementary school. (AASL 1.1, AASL 1.2, AASL 3.2, PSC 1.f, PSC 4.a, PSC 7.d, NCATE 4.a)
