Short Course Description:
The use of Drama and Role Play is an invaluable tool in second language acquisition as it allows the student to practice the target language (English) in authentic situations that can be recreated in the classroom. This allows the student to have the confidence to use English in real situations outside of the classroom. This workshop also includes actor training techniques that can enhance your own teaching skills.
The Tools: 1) Drama Games: to help the students to relax. 2) Breathing exercises: an essential component in confidence building. 3) Voice exercises: enables students to speak loudly and clearly. 4) Gesture and Mime: a useful communication skill. 5) Simple Role Play Scenarios: recreate realistic situations in which to use authentic language. 6) A Short Play: memorizing a short play with simple dialogue and gestures can help with the acquisition of vocabulary.
