General Targets
I can read books with simple dialogue
I can read book with simple pronouns

Targets about Solving Words
I can read 20 high frequency words quickly within a book
I can make connections between words by letters, sounds, or spelling
patterns
I can take apart words by using the individual letters in words
I can reread the sentence to problem solve, self-correct or confirm
I can use two of more sources of information to self-monitor and self-
correct (meaning, language structure, visual information)

Targets about Summarizing
I can remember information to help in understanding the end of the
story independently
I can recall and retell the important information or important events
from the story

Targets about Predicting
I can make predictions based on information gained through reading and
my own experiences independently
I can predict the end of the story based on the beginning and middle of
the story
