UNIT/CHAPTER OBJECTIVE/GENERALIZATION/BIG IDEA:
This lesson plan is a part of a unit plan on English; Literacy, writing, an computer skills

LESSON OBJECTIVE:
The student will be able to explore the internet to in accurate information about a subject with 100%
knowledge of knowing where everything is located on and in the computer.

STANDARDS ADDRESSED:
Determine a theme of a story, drama, or poem from details in the text; summarize the text.
Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes
using technology
Students use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively, including at a distance, to
support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others
Students apply digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use information.
Students use critical thinking skills to plan and conduct research, manage projects, solve problems, and make
informed decisions using appropriate digital tools and resources
Students understand human, cultural, and societal issues related to technology and practice legal and ethical
behavior.
Students demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations

MATERIALS:
Internet, Outside sources such as other books or author him or herself, Word Document
The internet can be the primary source as long as the article or statement is cited.
Web Quest will be introduced to students to help them complete their research quest.

BACKGROUND and RATIONALE:
By the end of the lesson, the student should be able to master looking up information pertaining to a subject.
The students should also know what the term Browse means and apply all knowledge towards using that.
Prior to this lesson, students learned how to first access the web and locate where to type n a URL address and
launch to that specific page. Similar to that lesson, now students will further their computer skills by getting
informative ideas and statements to piece together one whole essay. After completing this lesson, the students
then continue to future lessons, such as book reports. Student that are not eligible to access a computer or has a
disability will gather information from either the source itself (the book) or other sources and create an essay
with similar requirements.

PROCEDURES AND TIMELINE:
I will introduce the lesson to the students as an individual assignment that may require a peers help and work on
the computer at home and school.
Include approximate times with each step of the lesson.
On Day 1 of the lesson the students will be given a list of books to choose from for their individual book review
essay. After every student has chosen, I will then have the students count off to four going around the whole class
to determine their computer time. All of the ONEs and TWOs will have an hour to research on the computers
for their chosen book. While the THREEs and FOURs will be rely on outside sources or beginning their essay.
On Day 2, the 3s and 4s will research on the computer first while the 1 and 2s use outside sources. This will be
approximately 2 hours a day for one full week.
On Day 3, the students should have gathered enough information to form their essay. What they will do now is
organize tall of their information or every source use and combine them until they create a thesis statement. The
thesis statement should state what book the student is writing on and why he or she chose that book, poem, or
biography. The students will take this home and begin their rough draft.
On Day 4, the students should come prepare with their rough draft one ready to peer tutor. I along with the
students will be helping and critiquing. Students will take edited rough drafts home and create a final paper.
On the Final day, students will present their typed essay Along with the websites that were used.


ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE:
The goal of this lesson is to make students aware of their technology. Technology is a great source to receive
information from. The objective of this assignment is clear to solve that every problem of students getting more
technology advanced.

MODIFICATIONS:
Students that do not master his lesson and spend more outside time in the labs with computers to further
explore what he or she did not learn. Students who have mastered this lesson can move forward to enhance their
computer skills.
