Values Reflection 2
An individuals core values are something that help shape, and define that person as an individual, or leader. It is important to remember that whatever your values are you should not compromise them for any sort of reason, for to compromise your values is to destroy who you are and what you believe in. Loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor integrity and personal courage. In the U.S. Army Non Commissioned Officer handbook you will find those listed as what is needed to be a great leader. Before my time in the Army the only value I ever had was respect, it wasnt until I had personal experience with all of the other that I learned that having a set basis of values can and will shape you as a person. Values are what help form the foundation for which we will all perform on, and conduct ourselves. The whole universe is comprised of values, some are basic and primary and so important, that no matter what changes around us be it our government, society, technology or politics, they are what you will live by. In this rapidly changing world, our core values are a constant. They are more than mere descriptions of what we do at work, or the battle plans we draw to accomplish them. The values themselves underlie the work we set out to accomplish, set how we interlace with one another in the work place, and are the strategies that we deploy to fulfill the end goal. They are the basic building blocks of how we move up in our job, as well as perform our job. Treat them as the practices we want to use, and should be using, every day in every task that needs to be accomplished. The values he hold dear to ourselves, are as equally important in the workplace. They ensure that we keep order amongst chaos, and that we can operate as smoothly as possible. Each individual in the workplace has their own values, as does the workplace itself be it a police department, jail, government agency, or local supermarket. Its the values of the workplace that need to align with the personal values that we all have. The dedication we have defines how hard we choose to perform our duties at work. Having integrity puts on display our behavior when people or looking or when their backs are turned to you. report type, or flat out lying. If you did it, own up to it, and dont make anyone chase you down for any reason. It is imperative to keep in mind we need to conduct ourselves at all times are professionals. We need not only treat other employees with respect, but the community as well. Every place of business will enforce their standards, values, ethics, and acceptable behaviors differently. The difference between the right way and the wrong way, depend on the values that YOU hold to yourself.
