Date(s) 1 st Field Experience Activity/Time PSC/ISTE Standard(s) Reflection (Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question) Training 75 minutes during planning- 1/16/13
Every day in class 90 minutes- 1/8/13 to the present, 4/30/13 B. Jones utilized the Alpha Smart daily in my world history class. 1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology facilitation and leadership from completing this field experience? I learned about the comprehensive realm of assistive technologies. I realized how important a teacher can be towards the students attitude and use of the assistive technology in the classroom. I learned that each area in our school system has an assistive technology coordinator who is responsible for each and every childs assistive technology device and the training of everyone involved.
2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected in Part I. Use the language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3knowledge, skills, and dispositions.)

For the assistive technology field experience, a teacher must know how to correctly use the piece of technology, in order to help the student if a problem or difficulty arises with the device or its use for an assignment. A teacher must be able to properly incorporate it into lessons, so that the student may benefit from the device in class. For assistive technology to truly help a student, a teacher must be willing to lead by example and a positive attitude, so that the student will be more likely to employ the device in the classroom.
3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or student learning at your school. How can the impact be assessed? I am certainly more aware of the use and need for assistive technology in the classroom for students with disabilities. When educators have to work with and plan for assistive technologies in their classroom, they should become better advocates for use of assistive technologies school-wide. Once a teacher experiences a semester planning for and implementing activities with the assistive technology in mind, it should become easier to work with and around.
