Q1 Constructing Sentences

1. Study the picture and the words, try to get as much


information as possible .
2. Some of the words might give you an idea what to write
regarding to events, incidents or activities
3. You can either write in present tense, past tense or
continuos tense
4. Do not use the same sentence pattern. Use a variety of
sentence patterns that you have learnt.
5. Emphasis of marking is on grammar.

Q1 Techniques
There are two common techniques:
a. Listing;
Listing Write as many simple sentences as possible.
Then, join two or three sentences to form
compound or complex sentences.
b. Expansion: Using the original sentence stem to
expand.
e.g:1. The boy is reading a book.
2. The boy is reading a book at the table.
3. The boy is reading a book and he is sitting
comfortably at the table.
4. The boy who is reading a book sits comfortably
at the table.

I would prefer to choose Adidas because it is the most
popular shoes around and I think wearing it will greatly
enhance my prestige. I believe that the shoes are of the
highest quality and definitely it is worth buying.
Normally, it would cost me more than RM50. However,

consider buying a pair for my sports practice as I would
get a free pair of socks. The MM Shoe Store near my
house is having a sale. I would have the chance to
choose the colour I want. It would be nice if a few of my

Last week, Johan and a group of scouts decided to
raise fund for their Annual Scouts’ Jamboree in “Kijang
Camp”. The boys organised themselves into several groups.
One of the groups went around the houses and washed cars
and painted the fences.
Another group of scouts headed by Amin, trimmed the
hedges and cleaned the compounds of the houses. They also
went around and gathered old newspapers, bottles and
cans. They sold the things they had collected at the
recycling centre. All of them were happy because they had
made some money and helped to keep the environment
clean.
At the end of the week, the boy scouts counted 'the
money they had raised. They were very delighted to find out
that they had collected more than RM200.00. They were
happy and hoped to take part in their Annual Scouts’
Jamboree.

at a village in the heart of the city.]

One windy night, Mak Limah forgot


to closed one of the windows in her
house. As she was sleeping, a burglar
climbed the window and entered her

loud noise. She went out of her house and
