looking for information on GMOs, this is a great starting point. It gets right to the
point talking about the function, food sources, side effects, and recommendations
on genetically engineered foods. Its not an in-depth discussion, but if someone is
new to GMOs, this is a great place to start.
2. Non-GMO Project (2013, September 13). Verified products. Retrieved from
http://www.nongmoproject.org/find-non-gmo/search-participating-products/ - In
here, you can find products that are part of the Non-GMO Project. You can
search by category, brand, or name. There is even a place for supplements,
body care products, tofu, and dairy alternatives along with your typical, dairy,
snacks, soups, fruits, and condiments. Retailers can even print a list of UPCs for
verified products.

These are a series of briefs about agricultural biotechnology with contributions
from Agricultural Biotechnology Support Project II, and the Program for Biosafety
Systems. They go into a lot of detail about biotechnology. They start off
explaining what it is then move on to the goals of genetic engineering and
patented genes.

has a different take on GMOs. Mentioned is the potential of new allergens being
created, debunking the feed the world claims, and that we dont know that
GMOs arent safe but we also dont know that they are.

Summaries.pdf - This is a summary report about the crop yields during ten years
of both organic and conventional cropping systems. They list the problems, what
their objective is, and their approach, share their results, and talk a little bit about
the future research.

about organic farming. They cover topics such as the national standards on
organic agricultural production and handling and labeling of pesticides under the
national organic program.

food/NU00255 - This covers information about what it means to be organic,
considerations, and downsides to buying organic. It also lists food safety tips. A
simple, to the point site.
4. Organic Valley. (n.d.). Organic counts. Retrieved from
http://www.organicvalley.coop/organiccounts/ - With this calculator, you can learn
how much synthetic nitrogen and how much herbicides and pesticides youre
preventing each year or week by purchasing Organic Valley. You pick through
cheese, butter, half and half, cream, sour cream, cottage cheese, cream cheese,
and milk add whatever you may buy and it will show you what youve prevented.
5. The Organics Institute. (n.d.). History of the organic movement. Retrieved from

site lists the history of the organic movement. It starts back in the 1920s and
briefly describes what happened in what they call more of a renaissance than a
revolution.

Weight Loss

http://caloriecount.about.com/tools/calories-goal - This is a great calculator to
learn about how many calories you should be ingesting in a day to get to your
goal weight. You start off by putting in your current weight and your desired
weight. It takes you to another page where you fill in your gender, age, height,
activity level, and your goal date unless you want them to calculate that for you
too. It is then youll get your recommended daily calorie count.
2. HelpGuide.org. (n.d.). Choosing a weight-loss program: Finding the one that
works best for you. Retrieved from
http://www.helpguide.org/harvard/weight_loss_programs.htm - This is a great
resource to give you some ideas of different programs to use. They list some
popular weight-loss programs, including; commercial programs like Jenny Craig
and Weight Watchers; online programs like fitday.com, ediets.com, and
sparkpeople.com; as well as smartphone apps and self-help programs.

# - This is an interesting article about gastric bypass surgery. They claim that it is
only successful because of changes in gut bacteria. Very interesting article.

plans, Mayo Clinic Diet, diet and exercise, and diet pills, supplements, and
surgery are what you will learn about from this Mayo Clinic webpage. Theyre not
telling you what to do on their diet plans section; they give you guidelines to
make sure you have a good one. They also have their own they recommend if
the others dont seem to be working for you.

resource for help in choosing the right weight-loss program. They answer
questions such as; Where do I start? What should I look for in a weight-loss
