Standard #7: Planning for Instruction

The teacher plans instruction that supports every student in meeting rigorous
learning goals by drawing upon knowledge of content areas, curriculum, cross-
disciplinary skills, and pedagogy, as well as knowledge of learners and the
community context.
Name of Artifact: Music Lesson Plan for Kindergarten
Date: December 2013
Course: EDUC 250: Educational Psychology
Brief Description:
This lesson plan is all based around music for young students, and how to
implement music activity in the classroom. The specific activity described in my
lesson plan was to pass out simple instruments to each student, and then have the
students repeat rhythms back to the instructor after hearing a short, simple beat
played by her on the piano (for example).
Rationale:
To document my understanding of InTASC Standards #7, Planning for
Instruction, I have selected to include my lesson plan over music at a kindergarten
level, because it is based around the grade level that I want to work with, and
exhibits planned instruction by the teacher. This lesson may revolve around a
popular song, or a childs interest in a specific instrument. It has a rigorous
learning goal which expects students to follow along and repeat rhythms without
playing their instrument out of turn.
