WEATHER PROTECTION OF ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS To avoid electrical accidents we should take following precautions:
Install approved electrical accessories by the experienced electricians. Install proper rated GFCIs, fuses, and circuit breakers to control over current and earth fault. Ensure proper grounding. Guard live parts. Follow Lock out / Tag out procedure during repair and maintenance. Close electric panels properly. Do not over load electrical installations. Use only IP 55 rated electrical components. Use proper PPEs during any kind of job with electrical equipments. To protect Electrical installations from weather we should do following: Protect from vertical and inclined water fall by installing proper shade or water proof panel board. Protect from heat or Fire by installing heat resistant materials and away from ignition source or Flammable material. Protect from dust and other materials. Keep Welding machine, Generators, Electrical Panel Boards, Electrical cables, Switches under shade. Ensure Electricians, Welder not to work while standing on wet surface or hand is wet. Wet clothing, high humidity, and perspiration increase chances of electrocution. Electrical accidents are caused by any of the three factors: Unsafe equipment and/or installation. Workplaces made unsafe by the environment. Unsafe work practices
