Akhter, Farida. "Global Sanctions Do Not Reduce Human Trafficking." Human
Trafficking. Ed. Christina Fisanick. Detroit: Greenhaven Press, 2010. Current
Controversies. Rpt. from "Bangladesh: Threat of Sanction Can't Stop Human
Trafficking." Human Rights Solidarity 14 (Sept. 2004). Opposing Viewpoints in
Context. Web. 13 July 2014.

This source is an article written by Farida Akhter, the executive director of Unnayan
Bikalper Nitinirdharoni Gobeshona (UBINIG), or the Policy Research for Development
Alternatives, in Bangladesh. In this article the author discusses the world wide issue of human
trafficking. The point of this article is to inform the reader about human trafficking and how this
ongoing issue is not resolving.
I think that this is a reliable and useful source for the topic concerning human trafficking.
This is an article written by a credible writer that is a director, so I know that it is a source that I
can confidently use. I think that this article is a source that is very useful because it is a good
article full of useful information about human trafficking. The article contains information about
what the United States it trying to do to resolve the human trafficking issues in many other
countries, not just the U.S.
This article is a good source to use on research about human trafficking. I was not really
aware that human trafficking was such a big issue in the United States, along with many other
countries around the world. This article has some of the political aspects on the issue, which
helps the research with some solid back up information on the topic about human trafficking. I
would like to use this article to add to my other sources because I think that this source has
useful information on the global sanction in effect. This source will help support the material
from the Polaris Project website, because both of these sources have information on the politics
involved in human trafficking.

Batstone, David. Not For Sale. New York: HarperCollins, 2007. Print.
The book, Not for Sale, is a book about the return of the global slave trade, and how we
can fight it. This source includes many collections of stories of victims of human trafficking.
There is information on the human trafficking trade, and how some criminals obtain their victims
to sale in the human trafficking trade. This book gives many real life events that happened to the
victims, and information on what can be done to stop human trafficking.
I think that this is a great source to use for my research paper. I feel that this source has a
lot of useful information to support my topic about the criminal trade of human trafficking. This
book is a reliable source that was published in New York, and the author of this book also cited
his sources used in the book as well. I think that the goal of this source is to inform the reader of
human trafficking, and how to realize the crime so that we can help stop it.
This source will be very helpful to me on my topic for my paper. There is a lot of
material in this source that I can use to prove that human trafficking is a criminal trade. This is a
crime that is occurring near our homes, not just in other countries. This source will fit right in on
providing detailed information on the human trafficking trade; from how the criminals work, to
victims stories. There are also events that are in the book about citizens of the U.S. trying to
help others in the trade, which are unsuccessful because of the way some criminals work. I think
this source will help strengthen my other sources because there is some additional supporting
information, as well as other broad information on the topic. Many of my sources such as the
book, Smuggling and Trafficking in Human Beings, the article, Slavery is Alive in Jacksonville,
and the article from the FBI all have information that will go with the material from this source.

Boyd, Danah. "Restricting Classified Advertising Websites Helps Pimps and Human
Traffickers." Human Trafficking. Ed. Dedria Bryfonski. Detroit: Greenhaven Press, 2013.
Current Controversies. Rpt. from "How Censoring Craigslist Helps Pimps, Child
Traffickers and Other Abusive Scumbags." The Huffington Post. 2010. Opposing
Viewpoints in Context. Web. 14 July 2014.
This article is about the use of online advertising, such as craigslist, advertising
services and how this effects the traffickers involved in human trafficking. This article gives
information on how the internet can make it easier for the criminals to sale the services of the
humans they are trafficking. However, there is also information in this article on how law
enforcement can use the internet to monitor and catch the traffickers as well, out of the
traffickers sight.
This source is a reliable and useful source that I can use for my research paper. The
article in the opposing viewpoints has some information on human trafficking and how the trade
is on the internet. I think that the author of this article is not biased, but is just proving
information. I think that the internet does make it easier for the trafficking trade, but it is a source
that can be tracked by law enforcement when needed.
I like this source, and I think that it will be helpful to me for my research. The material in
this source provides some information that I can use to explain how the criminals work in the
human trafficking trade. This source will also provide information on how law enforcement is
working to stop human trafficking. When combining all of my information from sources, this
one will be very helpful because of the information on modern day internet connections to the
human trafficking trade. I do not have another source that has the information on internet
advertising and craigslist being linked to human trafficking. However, this does support the
material I have from the book A Crime So Monstrous, because both sources have details on how
the criminals work in the trade.

Campbell, Joseph S. and Anne C. Gannon. "Testimony Combating Human Trafficking." The
FBI. FBI, 23 Sept 2013. Web. 14 07 2014.
This source is a joint statement held before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security
and Governmental Affairs in Washington, D.C. This statement was made by Joseph Campbell,
Deputy Assistant Director, Criminal Investigative Division Federal Bureau of Investigation and
Anne C. Gannon, National Coordinator for Child Exploitation Prevention and Interdiction,
Office of the Deputy Attorney General. This statement is about the FBIs investigation and
enforcement of human trafficking and missing children.
I think that this source will be very helpful in my research paper because there is a lot of
firsthand information and insight on the issue of human trafficking and missing children. This is
also a very reliable and credible source to use because it is from the Federal Bureau of
Investigation. This statement is there to share with the public information on what the FBI is
doing to stop human trafficking and information that they gathered.
I will be using this material as a source for my research paper. This source fits in with my
other sources. I like how this source backs up the material from the book Smuggling and
Trafficking in Human Beings, and the material from the UNODC. There are a lot of details and
facts to use from this source to support my topic. I will be able to use information on the
penalties criminals face, information on the law enforcement, and what others can do to help the
issue our world is faced with.

Dumienski, Zbigniew. "Worldwide Human Trafficking Is a Myth." Gendercide. Ed. Noah
Berlatsky. Farmington Hills, MI: Greenhaven Press, 2014. Opposing Viewpoints. Rpt.
from "Myth and Reality of Human Trafficking: A View from Southeast Asia."
Interdisciplinary Political Studies 2.1 (Mar. 2012). Opposing Viewpoints in Context.
Web. 14 July 2014.
In this article, the author talks about human trafficking, and how it is a myth. This article
argues that human trafficking is not really one huge crime, but rather many smaller crimes that
are being committed. This article also talks about the immigrants involved in human trafficking
are willfully involved because they want a better life.
I think that this is a useful article, even though the author seems biased. I do not really
agree with all that the article talks about regarding human trafficking, but I think that it is good to
provide insight and information from another point of view. I do think that this is a reliable
source to use in my research since it is from the opposing viewpoints database.
This material in this source will go with my other sources because there are details on
human smuggling, trafficking, and crimes. Such as the book, Not For Sale, and Smuggling and
Trafficking in Human Beings. I think that providing some material on the opposing view of the
situation on the crime and trade of human trafficking is good for my argument paper.

First Coast News, News Source. Police: Woman Arrested After Trading Baby for Truck.
Firstcoastnews.com. First Coast News, 31 July 2012. Web. 15 July 2014.
This is an article in the First Coast News online newspaper about a local woman from
Palatka, Fl. This woman already had a warrant for human trafficking charges in Kentucky, but
was arrested in Florida for trading her newborn baby for a truck. This criminal then sold the
truck for money for drugs.
Since this is an article in an online newspaper, I know that it is reliable and true. I feel
that the goal of this source is to inform the public of the events that occur in our towns. I think
that this is another good source to use in my research because it is an act of human trafficking
that is happening close to home. I feel that using the local real life stories of human trafficking in
my paper will create more attention and awareness for the reader.
This article will go along well with my material from New4Jax, the other news article
that I have on local cases of human trafficking, and how there are criminals of the trade so close
to us. I think that this source if helpful to me, and will help to support my topic in my research
paper. Reading stories like this one really makes me feel even sadder about this topic. I really
never know that there were so many cases of human trafficking going on near my hometown, the
state of Florida, and the U.S.

Freed, Crystal. Slavery is Alive in Jacksonville. News4Jax.xom. News4Jax, 24 Feb. 2014.
Web. 14 July 2014.
This article from the online newspaper is about the current trafficking occurring in
Jacksonville, Fl. This article is mostly about a criminal named Ian Sean Gordon, and how he held
a 15-year-old girl captive in a hotel room while he sold her for $20 for 15 minutes with her.
This source is informing the public of what is going on in our neighborhood. This is a
credible source because it is from one of the Jacksonville online newspapers. I find that this
information is useful for my research because I can reference this to give an example on how
criminals charge and make money off the slaves they have in the trade.
I think that I can use this article along with my other articles because this one has some
examples on what criminals charge for the slaves they have. Using this source along with my
book source, Not For Sale, will help to support each other because they have real life examples
of human trafficking. Having examples from a credible source will benefit my research paper,
and provide proof that there are criminals making money off of human trafficking. Also, I feel
that using a source that has information on criminals locally trafficking; will bring more attention
to the readers.

Polaris Project For A World Without Slavery. Polaris Project. PP, 2014. Web. 15 July 2014.
This website has a lot of articles, information, and statistics on human trafficking and
related issues. This organization is an outreach program that has a resource center, hotline, and
many useful tools for others to use to get involved in helping with the human trafficking issues.
This is a credible website that is full of reliable and useful information that I can use for
my research paper. The goal of the Polaris Project is to get rid of modern day slavery and end
human trafficking. This website is there to inform the public that human trafficking is modern
day slavery, and ways to help stop it.
I can use this website as a valuable source for my research. The materials in this source
will help to strengthen my other sources, such as the material from the FBI. Both of these
sources are helpful by providing additional supporting information with statistics and other
information on human trafficking. I like how there are graphs that show the statistics and
percentage of how human trafficking is divided out into sex trafficking, forced labor, and child
labor. It is good information to use to support the sub topics in my paper.

Skinner, E. Benjamin. A Crime So Monstrous. New York: Free Press, 2008. Print.
This source is a book written by a journalist who traveled around the world to gather
stories of those involved in the human trafficking trade. In this book the author even interviews
the traffickers in the criminal trade. The author went to other countries and around the U.S. to
document some of the humans involved on different sides of the trade.

I feel that this is a reliable and credible source that I can use material from to support my
research paper. I also feel that this is a helpful source as well. It seems that the goal of this book
is to bring awareness to others on the issue at hand. I like how the author also provided the
criminals stories as well because it helps to see how the trade functions. Human trafficking is an
awful crime, but it is still interesting to hear the other side though. I think that this source
compares to my other sources I am using because there are similar situations explained in this
source, but different ones too.
This source gives me additional insight into the trafficking trade. This source will go
along well with my other sources because there is additional information on what happens to the
victims of human trafficking. This material will support the material I have from the online news
articles, such as News4Jax and the Chicago Tribune. Also, this source provides information on
the criminal, which will be very helpful to me when augmenting my topic. The stories of the
criminals provide the other side of the issue. Using some of the material in this book will benefit
and support my paper.

Sweeney, Annie. Feds, strip clubs fighting human trafficking. Chicagotribune.com.
Chicago Tribune News, 05 Apr. 2014. Web. 13 July. 2014.
This article that Annie Sweeny wrote is about how the feds and strip club employees are
trying to do what they can to stop human trafficking. This article is to inform others how human
trafficking is occurring in local clubs in the United States, and how many of the strip club
employees in Chicago gathered together. The article discusses how they wanted to work with the
federal agents from the Department of Homeland Security to attempt to reduce the amount of
human and sex trafficking occurring.
This is a reliable and credible source because this is an article written by a writer for the
Chicago Tribune News. I think that this is a useful source that goes along with the other sources
used on the topic of human trafficking. This is because the article gives information about what
the women are being forced into doing. This article explains what happens to the women in
human trafficking, just like the other article gives some example on what happens to children in
human trafficking. I think that the writer is biased on the topic, but that is to be expected because
the topic is human trafficking.
This article will be useful in my research on human trafficking. This article provides
more support on just how much of an issue human trafficking is. This source gives me back up to
explain how women are used in human trafficking. This goes along with the other articles
because this provides more information on human trafficking and how people are used to profit
the criminals. This source will pair well with the book Not For Sale, because this source has
additional real life situations that the victims are put in through human trafficking.

United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
UNODC, 2014. Web. 13 July 2014.
This website is about drug and crime control all around the world. This website offers
some great general information on human trafficking, and other related information.
This source is a good source to use as a reference for definitions on human trafficking,
and other related topics. The point of this website page is to inform the reader of general
information about human trafficking, and what the UNODC is doing to help stop human
trafficking.
I will use this source in my research paper to reference to when defining human
trafficking. I think that it is important to define what human trafficking actually is for the reader.
This source will help support my other sources because this source can provide a better
understanding on the terms used from other sources. This source is an important one that will
explain the information from the material from the FBI article, and the Polaris Project website.

Zhang, Sheldon X. Smuggling and Trafficking in Human Beings. Westport: Praeger, 2007. Print.
Smuggling and Trafficking in Human Beings, All Roads Lead to America; is a book about
human trafficking, smuggling, immigrants, and much more. This book contains information
about human trafficking and how humans are smuggled into the United States. Most immigrants
that are smuggled into the United States are normally apart of human trafficking. Sheldon Zhang,
the author of this book provides a lot of details about the politics and governments that affects
and is involved in human trafficking.
This is a reliable source that I feel confident about using for my research paper. There are
statistics and information about human trafficking and population migration. There is
information on how traffickers are able to obtain fake, stolen, or legitimate purchased
documents, such as passports. I think that the author on this source is not necessarily biased, but
is providing a lot of information and facts about human trafficking and smuggling.
This is a great source that I will use a lot of information and facts to support my research
paper. The material supports my topic because there is vital information on how human
trafficking is a billion dollar trade. There is also information on how the criminals are able to
smuggle and traffic human beings. This book has a wide range of other information on human
trafficking, and I think that the material in this source will go together well with my other
sources. Especially the book, A Crime So Monstrous. I will be able to compare the information
on the trade criminals from this source and some other sources I am using.
