The Ambassador of Japan, His Excellence Mr Yoshinobu Hiraishi, on June 18 officially handed over the

newly constructed Molo School buildings to the community in Bubi District.


Molo has an enrolment of 288 pupils who have been using dilapidated structures since the school
started operating in 2006.
The construction of the school buildings was made possible by a grant of USD 112,039(one hundred and
twelve thousand and thirty-nine dollars) which the Embassy extended to World Vision Zimbabwe in
March last year for the implementation of the project.
The amount was used for the construction and furnishing of four standard double classroom blocks as
well as the construction of ten multi compartment Blair Latrine toilet block and a staff toilet
The local community assisted in the provision of labour, bricks, sand and stones.
Speaking at the handover, the Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Professor Paul
Mavhima said as government, they would continue working with organisations such as World Vision. He
was quick to add that there were more than 1 500 schools which were in a dire state, the same as Molo
before the intervention.
Standing in for the National Director, Shepherd Dhlamini, the Operations Manager for the Southern
Region, said World Vision was thankful of the good working relations with the Government of
Zimbabwe.
The event was attended by more than a thousand people who included local community members as
well as children and staff from neighbouring schools.
