GRADING SCHEME

CHEMISTRY

Points will be awarded in each of these categories: homework assignments, quizzes,
lab activities and tests. Point values of homework assignments, quizzes, lab activities
vary according to the amount of content addressed and work performed. Lower point
values will be awarded with less than a complete or accurate attempt. Tests will be
given at the end of units and will be worth !! points each. The points from all areas
will be totaled and a grade will be assigned on the percentage of possible points.

'f an evaluation (test or quiz) is not satisfactory, the evaluation may be taken a second
time. *n the second attempt the evaluation will only be scored at +,- of the original
value. 'f the second attempt is less than passing, then the test may completed as a
worksheet for .,- of the score that would have achieved if given under test conditions.
The test may be taken after the scheduled test date, when all others have taken the test
the first time, as a worksheet for .,- of the score that you would have achieved if given
under test conditions.
The two quarter grades will be averaged to give the semester grade.
These letter grades will be assigned to the following numerical percentages:

8iolations of the safety contract will be considered in your grade. These violations may
turn some or all lab grades to zero.
