Course Description:

In AP World History you will explore key themes of world history, including
interaction with the environment, development and interaction of cultures, state-
building, economic systems, and social structures, from approximately !!! "#$#%#
to the present# &here are 've di(erent regions covered in the course, including)
*ceania, Africa, Americas, Asia and %urope, six time periods +see below, and four
thinking skills#
&he four thinking skills include the ability to craft arguments from evidence)
describe, analy-e and evaluate events from a chronological perspective) compare
and contextuali-e historical developments) and analy-e evidence, reasoning and
context to construct and understand historical interpretations#
World history does not re.uire you to learn everything that has happened over the
course of human history# It cannot be de'ned as merely the history of the /rest0
that cannot 't into a Western $ivili-ations course# Instead, this AP World History
course attempts to dissect the tangled history of interactions, changes, and even
continuities across time and space# While mastery of content plays a crucial role in
the successful completion of this course, it is essential that you are able to see
presence of overarching themes in World History# In this course you will develop
your capacity to think like a historian# &his course will prepare you for the AP exam,
but that is not the sole purpose of the class#
