Needs Assessment (Insert your answers to the questions below.)
1. What is the learning problem or opportunity? The college needs to offer
more classes surrounding nursing so students can gain employment with
local hospitals such as Patton Fuller Community Hospital.
2. What is currently available? Classes surrounding criminal justice,
computer technologies, and general education.
3. What should be available? Classes surrounding nursing.
4. Explain the gap analysis between what is available and what should be
available. The school is currently offering classes for surrounding careers
in criminal justice and general education. The college plans to reach out
to the community to fill the interest for nursing careers and update
technology and invest in accommodating the nursing needs for students
within 2 years.
5. What is your recommended solution for filling the gap? Providing
Nursing classes to students.

Instructional Goal

Summative Assessment and Learning
Outcomes

The learning outcomes will be evaluated through test,
internships, and labs. The test will be written exams that
contain multiple choice, true false, and essay questions.
Students will also role play during labs. The role play will
be graded and students will demonstrate how to do things
such as checking blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
They will also be given surveys to rate their learning
experience.

Learner Characteristics

Nursing aide classes with 8 women and 8 men of all ages.
Entrance test scores for Math and English need to be 5%
above average. Students need to have taken all of their
prerequisite classes and have a B average in the classes.
The students should be able to learn through visual and
auditory learning

Students will have the prior knowledge needed to be
successful in a nursing aide program or class.

This section includes the following:

The classroom setting will be consist of students that have
a desire to have a successful nursing aide career. This
setting will be face to face instruction and include some
online work. Students will have labs and internships to
help gain hands on experience for a nursing aide. The
instructor will base their instructional plan off of the
current information students already know and what
learning experience they want the students to gain from
the nursing classes.

Delivery Modality

The most effective method of delivery would be an
instructor-led course. This method will be good to use
because it refers to a traditional classroom setting where
group activity, discussion, and lectures will take place. This
method emphasize on peer to peer learning and problem
solving skills . This method will also provide feedback that
will be beneficial to a successful completion of the
program.

Instructional Strategies

Students will be provided with training and knowledge that will help
them fulfill their careers in clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, or home
care. Students will be introduced to the basic functions of a nursing
aide which are checking pulse, temperatures, blood pressure, and
respirations. Students will be able to cope with different situations,
understand their patients. Instructor-led course and instructional
strategies will be used to teach this information.
The instructional strategies that will be used to facilitate instruction is
direct, indirect, and interactive instructions. Students will need to
understand verbal instruction. They will also need to have good
intellectual an motor skills. Students will also need to have a positive
attitude, understand feedback, cope with different situations,
understand their patients needs, and understand directions.

Plan for Implementation

The Nursing Aide Training program is a 6 semester course. Start
Date:08/13/14-until students have completed the program successfully.
Class session Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 am to 11:00
am. Lab sessions Monday and Friday from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm

Facilitators, mentors , and students will be involved. Lab facilities,
classroom facilities, computers, software, places for internship must be
prepared before classes start. Student enrollment needs to be done prior
to class.

A good marketing strategy is needed to implement my plan to start nursing
classes. The school will utilize methods such as newspaper advertisements,
flyers, and radio advertisements to let students know about the plan for
nursing classes and build interest for the plan within the community .
Facilitators and all employees of the school will visit local hospitals, doctor
offices, and clinics to get them involved and help internships. Students and
facilitators will host seminars that will communicate the new plan to current
and potential students. The school will host weekly events to help
implement the new plan.

Instructional Resources

The material needed to implement the instructional plan are detailed
lecture notes, whiteboards, computers, internet, classrooms, labs, and
books. The students will need lab material such as pressure cuff,
stethoscope, and thermometer. All of this material will help with
teaching and give the students the hands on experience needed to be
a nursing aide.

Formative Assessment

Ask students questions pertaining to the lecture,
discussion, and assignments. Conduct quizzes and test to
gain information of the retention of course concept. Have
questions, answer, and role play sessions. Have
summarize and reflections session so students will have
time to understand and reflect on what they have heard or
read. Utilize collaborative activities so students will have a
chance to communicate with others as the develop and
demonstrate their understanding and concepts

Qualitative data of course completion from students will be
utilized to check and measure areas of improvement for
the nursing aide program. A follow up with instructors and
other faculty members will be done to discuss and
measure the relevance of the course material presented
within the program. A survey will be given to students to
rate the effectiveness of the program and course material.
This survey will give ideas on of how they are utilizing what
they have learned in everyday life.

Outcome Review

A rating scale will be used to identify the criteria for examining the design goal,
performance-based objectives, and learning outcomes were achieved. Rating for the
scale will range from 1 to 5 with five being the highest the description for the rating scale
will be as follows 1. beginning level performance, 2. moving towards meeting
performance, 3. meeting performance, 4. mastering performance, and 5. exceeding
performance level. The criteria would be students understanding of information meets
or match the instructional goals that have been set, Students will be able to apply what
they learned and procedures they have learned based off of information given to them
and the feedback that was given to them, Students are showing their ability to apply
what they have learned within the course material to real life events in the future,
Students are completing all assignments and participating in all class activity, and
Students are meeting a satisfactory level of performance t and have gained the
knowledge needed to be successful in the future.

Recommendations

The outcome review will reveal that students will have an
understanding of the material that was presented to them
through the nursing aide program at a steady pace.
Analyzing their academic performance shows that the
course content works well with the performance goals and
instructional goals that were created. Future
recommendations would be to increase lab time, increase
the hours for internships, increase group activity, increase
feedback from instructors, and increase group discussions.
