Dear SAC Prep Students and Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to the 2014-15 school year at Sol Aureus College Preparatory. I am looking forward to having an
awesome school year. Please take note of the following to ensure that this school year will be a success:

Materials & Supplies: Students are required to bring the following materials and supplies with them every day:

Composition books (spiral-bound notebooks are NOT acceptable), four (4) sharpened pencils and/or lead
pencils with lead, college ruled paper, a binder, a reading book (chapter book with 100 pages or more), and a
book bag or backpack.

Students will be assigned an English and History textbook. If needed, students may take textbooks home to
complete an assignment, but they must bring their textbooks back to school daily.

Grading: The grading breakdown for each class will be as follows:

English History

Classwork/Participation - (10% of grade) Classwork/Participation - (10% of grade)
Homework - (10% of grade) Homework - (10% of grade)
Reading Summaries/Book Reports - (10% of grade) Writing Assignments - (20% of grade)
Spelling Quizzes - (10% of grade) Research Projects - (20% of grade)
Writing Assignments - (20% of grade) Tests - (40% of grade)
Tests - (40% of grade)

*Complete assignments should be/have: 1) Legible (students will rewrite assignments that are not legible), 2)
Have their proper heading (name, date, college, subject), and 3) Have a parent/guardian signature.

**Students will be given advance notice of test dates and materials, which will give them plenty of time to
study and get clarification before the test. Should students not perform well on a test, make-ups will not be
given. If, however, the class, as a whole, does not perform well on a test or specific section of a test, I may
allow all students to correct or redo the test.

Classroom Expectations: Students are expected to follow the classroom rules and participate in class by using
their quiet signals, and asking/answering questions. Should students not follow classroom rules and/or fail to
participate appropriately, the following consequences may take place: written contracts, in/out-of-class timeout,
sent to another classroom and/or the office.
