COURSE
DESCRIPTION:

The contents in Algebra II are covered
in greater depth and at an accelerated
pace. Fundamentals of Trigonometry
are also covered. This class will
prepare the students for PreCalculus
and/or AP Calculus. TI-83 is required.
(Prerequisite: Geometry I Honors and
Division approval.)

OBJECTIVES:

The students will expand upon Algebra I topics at an accelerated pace..
The students will be able to:
Solve equations and inequalities
Solve linear equations
Perform quadratic functions
Work with functions
Graph functions
Simplify polynomials
Simplify and solve rational expressions and equations
Work with logarithmic and exponential functions
Explore trigonometry identities, equations, applications, and graphs

TI-83 calculator, pencil, notebook/folder, paper.

These are to be brought to class EVERY DAY!!!!

GRADING
PROCEDURES:


The points you have accumulated from class work, quizzes, tests, homework, and notebook
checks will determine your grade. Tests will be given at the end of each chapter, and will usually
be worth 100 points. Quizzes are given a few times each chapter and points will vary.
ABSENCES AND
TARDIES:

I follow the Absence Procedure in your Reavis Handbook.
I follow the Tardy Policy in the Reavis Handbook.

All make-up work for EXC absences should be handled within 3 days, unless you talk to me.
Find me at RAM.
If an absence is UNX, MUL, or UNV no work will be accepted. SUS refer to handbook.

HOMEWORK:

Homework is to be done in pencil.
Homework will be spot checked or collected.
When homework is assigned, it is due the next day. It is usually worth 5 points.
You have 3 days to make up late homework for partial credit.
You must SHOW ALL WORK on homework, or it will not count.
When a chapter ends, no more late homework will be accepted.

IMPORTANT
THINGS TO KNOW:

*RAM is a time for getting academic help and making up quizzes and tests. Please use RAM!
*Math lab is available 4A, 4B, 5A, 5B in room 221. Use it!
*Take notes every day. Do your homework every day! Show all work for problems!
*All work is to be done in PENCIL.
*Have a notebook for Algebra II / Trig Honors only.
*Sufficient time will be given to prepare for tests. If you are absent on the day of the test, it is YOUR
*Responsibility to make arrangements with me for your make-up. Make sure absences are EXC.
And you have 3 days to make it up, or it is a ZERO. Any problems, talk to me. COMMUNICATE!
*Cell Phones are NOT allowed in my classrooms. If there is an emergency call/text, please ask
to talk to me. I will try to allow for reasonable accommodations. IF you sneak and try to use your
phone during my class, I will give your cell phone to the deans with a referral.
