Welcome to Mr. Pecks 7
th
Grade English class!

I hope that all of you had a wonderful summer
and are exited back in the classroom. In this
class we will be focusing on developing
proficient reading, writing, language, and
speaking and listening skills that are important
to your success in school, in college, and in a
career. Our focus this year will be on the theme
of choices. As we read and learn, our class
will be exploring this theme.

Our BIG Goals:
-Read 1 Million words
-2 years reading growth based on AR/Achieve 3000
-Succeed on the SBAC (Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium):

Entering the Classroom
Enter the classroom quietly, take
out necessary materials, copy
homework into planner and
begin the warm up. Have your
pencil ready, desk clear, planner
in the top right corner of their
desk, and backpacks underneath
the desk.
Warm Up
Begin working on the warm-
up before the bell rings.
Violators will be marked as
tardy.
Leaving Seat
You are to stay in
assigned seats unless
given direction or
permission to get up.
Dismissal
Mr. Peck dismisses the
students not the bell.
You will wait until Mr.
Peck says Have a
great day to pack up.
Make sure your area is
clean, you have all your
materials, and push in
your chair.
Absence If you are absent, you will be held accountable for absent work, obtaining any
missed notes, and it is your responsibility to complete them.
Late work Each day that work is turned in late will receive an automatic full letter grade
deduction from what the assignment would have received.
