Greetings!

Marquetta Strait is a native of


Orangeburg, South Carolina. In May 2014,
she completed her Bachelors of Science in
Elementary Education with a minor in
English at Claflin University. She believes
that empowering the minds of our youth is
the calling on her life, and she will strive
diligently to continue to improve the
education system.
Her career goals rest between (1) becoming
a Director of Educational Technology that
trains and evaluates educators on their
implementation of technology and (2)
becoming a lead teacher who trains other
educators in using technology in the
classroom. Through her experience at Purdue University, she will be able to study
both options and decide which field is more advantageous to her. While there, she
will be obtaining her Masters in Learning Design and Technology.
Marquetta can be described as one of the most determined, intelligent-minded
students. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society, National
Professional Development, Pi Lamda Theta, Sigma Tau Delta English Honor
Society, National Society of Leadership and Success Saturday Academy, Phi Theta
Kappa, National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, and an alumni
member of Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). Since
community involvement is very important to her, she has had lifetime membership
in Girl Scouts for the past fifteen years. All of her organizations have helped
enhance her socialization skills and her desire to improve society.
Marquetta Straits Biographical Sketch

Having always had an interest in teaching and working with children, she has had
much experience in working with a wide variety of youth, including English
Language Learners, adolescents, and underrepresented students. As Marquetta
continues her journey of reaching her career aspirations, she is increasing her
experience daily by taking advantage of opportunities where she can grow and
impart her future students with knowledge.
