Dear Parent/Carer

Year 12 - AS Examinations January 2010

This letter is to confirm arrangements for the AS examination period in January 2010 for Year 12.
Your daughter/son will have external examinations which will take place from Monday 11th
January 2010. An exam timetable has already been sent to students.

Normal lessons will take place throughout the external examination period with the exception of
study leave sessions as indicated below:

• Students will be allowed half a day study leave to include Periods 1-3 in the morning
prior to an afternoon examination if they wish.

• Alternatively, they will be allowed study leave to include lunch and Period 4 and 5 in the
afternoon prior to a morning examination if they wish. No study leave will be allowed
on a Friday afternoon for a Monday morning examination.

Normal lessons will include a combination of vital revision work and the delivery of new units in
some subjects. If your daughter/son misses any lesson due to an external examination or an
agreed half day study leave then it is their responsibility to catch up on the work that has been
missed.

This is an important examination period and we would like to ask you to support your daughter/son
in devising an early revision programme that will allow them to plan for their external examinations.

The results for the external examinations are published on Thursday, 18th March 2010. We would
like to thank you for your ongoing support and wish all the students’ every success with their
examinations.
