Although school just started, we already have one of our best field trips of the year coming up. Every year, the fifth graders of East and West Grand School Districts have the privilege to go to Monarch Lake and participate in a field study put on by the Forest Service. Mark your calendars! The date for our field trip is Thursday, September 11. There will be several different field stations focusing on the science of our area for the students to explore. The field trip will last all day. We will leave the school around 8:00am and return at approximately 3:15pm. We will be eating a picnic lunch there. If you would like to attend the field trip, please check the box below. It would be great to have you join us! There is only room on the bus for a couple of parents/family members, so it would be best to try to carpool. The first to respond will get spots on the bus if you choose to ride the bus. Otherwise, well meet you there at 8:55am. (It is a fee area, so please be prepared to pay $5.00 per vehicle.) Since all of the activities take place outdoors, it is important that your child is properly prepared for the ever-changing weather. Its been known to snow on this trip. Below is a list of the items your child should bring: back pack lunch (A sack lunch may be ordered through the school; check the box below if you would like us to order one for your child.) nutritious snacks water bottle warm jacket / rain gear suitable hiking shoes (no sandals) hat gloves or mittens sunglasses (optional) sunscreen For parents/family members joining us as chaperones, please be sure to bring all of the items for yourself as well.
Thank you, Amy Horton and Catherine Maxfield
