CourseDescription
Inthisclass,wewilllearnskillsthatareimportantinposthighschoollife.Wewillcovermoney
managementandmoneymath,Internetuseandbasiccomputerskills,socialskills,nutritionandcooking,
jobskillsandfillingoutapplications,andgoalsetting.Thisclasshasmanyhandsonlessons,andthe
contentcoveredwilltosomeextentdependonstudentsneedsandinterests.

ClassroomExpectations
Iwantallofmystudentstobesuccessful,andIknowyouwanttobesuccessful,too.Thefollowing
behaviorsareessentialforyoutosucceedinmyclassaswellasinlifeafterhighschool:
Comeprepared.
Cometoclassontimeandbringyourpencils,pens,planner,andanyothermaterialsyouneed
togetyourworkdonefortheday.Studentsandemployeeswhocomepreparedgiveagreat
first(andsecond,andthird)impression.
Participate.
Completeallassignedbellworkandactivitiesandgivethemyourbesteffort.Ifyoudoitwell
thefirsttime,therewillbelessworkdowntheroad.
Berespectful.
Berespectfulofotherstudents,theteachers,andtheclassroom.Followinstructionsthefirst
timetheyaregiven.

Consequences
Ifyoudonotadheretotheclassroomexpectations,Iwillgiveyouawarning.Asecondoffencewill
meanaconsequencedeterminedbytheteacherthatrelatestowhatyouhavedone(forexample,ifyou
makeamess,youwillcleantheclassroomifyoutalkwhileitssomeoneelsesturn,youwillbeseated
awayfromyourpeers).Ifyoustillcontinuetoignoretheexpectations,youcanexpectthefollowing:

GradingPolicy
Yourgradeinthisclasswillbebasedonparticipation,bellwork,andinclasswork.Ontaskbehavior
willbeessentialinthisclass,soexpectparticipationtobealargepartofyourgrade.Gradeswillbe
basedonthefollowingscale:
A:90%100%
B:80%89%
C:70%79%
D:60%69%
F:0%59%

LateorMissingWork
Ifyourabsenceisexcused,youmaymakeupyourmissingworkwithoutanypenalty.Youmustmake
upyourworkwithin7daysofyourabsence.Youmaynotmakeupworkforunexcusedabsences.

Lateworkwillbeacceptedfor7daysafteritisdue,andwillbegiven50%ofthepointsitwouldhave
earned.After7dayshavepassed,itwillnolongerbeaccepted.Ifyoufindyourselffallingbehindand
areunabletocompleteanassignmentontime,pleasetalktomeandwecanworkitout.Iamveryopen
toextendingduedatesandgivingextratimewithoutpenaltyifyoucommunicatewithme!

Usingyourcellphoneisnotallowedunlessyouarelisteningtomusicorhavetalkedtomeaboutit
beforehand.Ifindcellphonesverydistracting,andIknowmanyothersdo,too,soifIseeyourphone,

Music
Somepeoplefocusbetterwhenlisteningtomusic,solisteningtomusicisallowed.Pleaseuseearbuds
andkeepthevolumeatalevelthatwillnotdistractotherstudents.Ifyouuseyourdeviceforanything
otherthanmusic,yourmusicprivilegeswillbetakenawaythefirsttimeIseeithappening.

FoodandDrink
Foodanddrinkareallowedinmyclass.Berespectfulanddonteatordrinkanythingthatisdistracting
tootherstudents.Ifyoumakeamess,pleasecleanitup.

HallPasses
Youwillgetonehallpassevery2weeks.Iwillhandoutyourhallpasssheets,anditisyour
responsibilitytokeepthemsomewheresafe.Ifyouneedtoleavetheclassroom,putyourcellphonein
thecellphonebasket.Youcanpickitupwhenyoureturntoclass.
