Current Event Assignments

Every other Week a current event assignment will be due. The dates are as follows and can also be found on my website
calendar (9/2, 9/15, 9/29, 10/14, 10/27, 11/3, 11/17, 12/1, 12/15). These dates are tentative and are subject to change!
You will submit an original or copy of a current event article along with a summary and reflection. The article must have been
written within the past 30 days, deal with a specific Earth or Environmental issue, and be from a reputable newspaper, magazine
or website. Your summary should contain:
The title of the article
The date of publication
The source
Five main ideas, numbered and written in complete sentences.
1. Who is the article about? (It could be a person, business, school, organism, etc.)
2. What has happened?
3. Where and when did it happen?
4. Why did it happen or why do they think it happened?
5. How is it affecting the earth or environment
Your summary should be followed by a personal reflection of at least 200 words written in complete sentences. Please include a
word count. In your reflection, you may discuss what your interest is in the article, how the issue relates to ideas previously
discussed in class, the overall impact of the issue, and/or your opinion on the matter. You may be asked to discuss your article in
class.
