Dear Sir

I would like to introduce myself my name is Isaac and I have been a store-owners in downtown
LA for approximately 30 years !iven the len!th of time which I have owned my own business has
allowed me to interact with a considerable number of other store owners" that bein! said I have been
tentatively selected to brin! a collective concern for a multitude of store-owners to your attention"
As you know the current economic conditions has reduced our customer base to a alarmin!
de!ree we may not have any control over the economic tides which have swept across our !reat
nation however there is no need to #e addin! to the problem by havin! unreasonable parkin!
conditions which contributes heavily to our financial problem which threatens every store-owner with
the possibility of closin! their shop permanently"
As I understand the city of Los An!els has chosen to turn over the parkin! enforcement over to a
private a!ency" I ima!ine at the time it made both accountin! sense and theoretical sense I ever we
store-owners bein! in the trenches and dealin! with the problem daily have found$he private
corporation which is taken over the parkin! enforcement to be ridiculously strin!ent on our customer
base to the point which on a daily basis I receive over %0 complaints from what little customers that
we have that should they be even one minute late in feedin! the machine that somebody&s waitin! to
take at them at a such a on exorbitant rate which the bar!ains that the downtown storeowners are
providin! is dwarfed by the additional costs which they are havin! to pay to this private parkin!
enforcement 'orporation"
In the 30 years which have been a storeowners I have seen many mayors !overn this !reat city of ours
in all different fashion one thin! stands true is that should one storeowners be forced to close their
business due to privati(ation of public utilities i"e" parkin! enforcement that the city will sustain a
much !reater economic loss within the !ains which have been reali(ed by sellin! off to private
industry and not havin! to be responsible to make sure to !overn them in not over exertin! the ri!hts
and privile!es that comes with the ownership of such publicly connected endeavors"
As I understand the reason there is checks and balances with havin! voters and individuals which are
bein! voted into position is to make sure that the needs of the many outwei!h the profitability of the
few
)ur !reat nation was or!ani(ed by our forefathers in a capitalistic fashion therefore I am not blind to
the fact that the city and officials can and will *ustify havin! private industry overseein! the public
interest in the parkin! enforcement department therefore this letter is not to make a unreasonable
re+uest of havin! the city revoke its contract with the private industry that is runnin! the
aforementioned parkin! enforcement"
,owever since the economic decline has left us very little cushion to sustain any additional losses and
this bein! a condition which we have more control over than the economic decline it leaves us with
the fact that we cannot simply voice our concern and hope that maybe someone will listen realistically
we have no choice but to keep pushin! this issue and or!ani(in! more and more storeowners till the
city has no other option but to make enou!h concession to both address the shop owner&s concerns and
mana!ed to keep their contract with the aforementioned parkin! enforcement company"
$he one +uestion which you as the mayor of this !reat city has the answers is how much of an effort it
would take the storeowners till this issue becomes enou!h of a concern to be addressed I would hope
that simple lo!ic would tell you that there is no need to tax the overburdened storeowners with havin!
to be takin! time from their private and business life$o have to deal with this concern attached with
this letter you will find si!natures from a number of storeowners in both supportin! and expressin!
their similar concerns where it pertains to this problem of parkin! enforcement I hope that he will not
take any further or!ani(in! than the number of si!natures which will be provided in order for the city
to assi!n a ne!otiator or a problem solvers to address and solve this concern which pla!ues all
storeowners and threatens further financial losses for the city should not be addressed"
-r" -ayor I appreciate you takin! the time to read this letter and assi!nin! the necessary effort to
address your voters business concerns should there be any need to speak to me directly please feel free
to contact me at my business at the followin! address and phone number sincerely with hi!hest and
best re!ards Isaac voter and storeowners
