Visual Arts Class Objectives/ Aims:
G2 Visual Arts class at BIBA will help students develop life-long passion for arts. Students will develop a deeper understanding of art
making, process of art making, purpose of art, art history and how our daily lives are closely related to arts.

Learning Goals (California States Visual Arts Standards):
1. Use tints and shades in creating art
2. Use rhythm and movement in works of art
3. Use foreground, middle ground and background to create the illusion of space
4. Compare and contrast works of art made by different media (e.g. watercolor and tempera)
5. Use tempera paint to create tints, shades and neutral colors
6. Draw a landscape, seascape or cityscape to create the illusion of space
7. Create a work of art based on observation of objects or scenes in daily life
8. Create an imaginative clay structure
9. Create a piece of art that expresses rhythm and movement
10. Identify artists from his or her own community/county/state or regional art traditions
11. Use vocabulary to describe art objects from various time periods and cultures

Course outline:
Art projects are designed to focus on understanding and learning process, not on the final artwork. Performance tasks may change
depending on different situations to offer students the best learning experiences and opportunities to develop their skills and
understanding. Art projects will include studying art history and influential artists, discussing works of art using arts specific
vocabulary (the elements of art and principles of design), creating an original work of art using various materials, tools and medium,
expressing personal thoughts and emotions through artwork, and evaluating students own work and peers work.
