    Mr.Arringtonsdesignsareamongthebest.LuckilyhisbookisstillavailablethroughAmazon.This
    circuitcanbedifferentiatedfromotherFMmicrophonekitsinthatitcontainsaverygoodvoltage
    regulatorsoasthebatterywindsdown,thefrequencyremainsstable.
    Arringtonsschematicsalsotransferalmostdirectlyontobreadboardswithonlycomponentparts
    orientationtobeconsidered.Thedesignbelowisfoundatpage15,fig23.
    Thecircuitwasassembledusingsurplusparts.Mr.Arringtongivesthedimensionsandinstructionsfor
    makingcoils,sotheycanbehandwound.Howevereventhesecanbesubstitutedwithsomesurplus
    partsasseenhere.Thedesignusesalownoise2N5210transistorforthemicrophonepreamplifier.It
    cancertainlybereplacedwiththemorecommon2N3904withlittleornodifference.Itsuseshowsthe
    exactingdetailMr.Arringtonhadforproducingthebestqualitypossible.SimilarlytheMPSH10
    transistorintheoscillatorstagescanbereplacedwithmorecommontransistors.Thefrequencyrange
    ofthistransmitterisbetween50130MHz,soagain,acommon2N3904withafrequencytransition(f)
    of300MHzmayworkwithoutanyreductioninpoweroradjustinganyothercomponents.Similarly,a
    2N3563RFtransistorcouldalsowork,probablywithoutanydifficulty.
    Inthisinstance,withcarefulassemblingandsoldering,usingonlythedeadbugtechniquethelegsof
    thecomponentscarefullywrappedandtightlytwisted.Thebreadboardversionwasassembledwithno
    problems.Remembertokeeptheleadsshort.Theantennawassimplyapieceof18magnetwire.
    Iencourageeveryonetopurchasethisbook.Thedesignsarewellengineeredandeasytoassemble.
