Class Website

Late assignments will not be given

Extra Help
If a student is having trouble they should speak with
the teacher as soon as possible. The teacher will
work with the student to schedule time for extra
help. Availability will be announced in class and on
our class webpage.

M.U.G. Shot Mondays: Mechanics,
Usage, and Grammar
Literary Term Tuesdays: mini-
lessons using modern examples of
literary devices
Words on Wednesday: Vocabulary
building
Thursdays: Journal Day
Fridays: SSR (Silent Sustained
Reading)
*DO NOW activities will be
collected and graded!
LPA Policies
No gum or food in class.
No cell phones in class.
Students must be in full uniform.
No profanity.
Once class begins, students are
not permitted to leave the room for
any reason (aside from the RARE
emergency).
Quarter book talks on your S.S.R. reading will
count for the equivalent of a major test. To
receive the full 100 points, you must
successfully report on 250 pages per quarter.
Reading will take place regularly in class, but
students will need to read outside of class
time to meet the 250-page goal.
Be prepared to answer specific, detailed
questions about your book.
Your book talk will be scheduled toward the
end of the quarter. I will announce deadlines
in class.
Book Talks
Absences
You are responsible for completing any work assigned
while you were absent.
You should refer to the weekly agenda posted in the
room to determine what was done or due while you
were absent.
You are given the total number of days that you missed
to complete work for full credit.
If you miss a quiz or a test, you have two weeks to
make up the quiz or test.
Procedures
Arrive ON TIME. If the door is closed, you are late. You must go get a pass.
Turn in homework to the appropriate drawer.
Begin working on the days DO NOW activity in your notebook.
The last five minutes of class will be used for Poetry 180. We will hear one
new poem, each day.
Before you leave, make sure you have turned in classwork.
Make sure that your desk and the surrounding area is clean and free of any
trash.
Ms. Bien dismisses the class.
All students will be required to submit
written assessments via turnitin.com.
Information will be distributed in class.
