Introduced Understanding what it means. (Fill in with color.) Comprehensive Assessment
Plan for monitoring the benchmark of students The goal is to increase student learning by producing actual data Ensure all students are making progress
Summative Assessment (END) Form of assessment that is given at the end of the unit. It is to judge the extent of student learning Retrospective assessment of what students have learned, know, or are able to do. Formal- Exam, Project, Keystones, PSSATs
Formative Assessment (During or on going)
Process or set of strategies that students and teachers use to gather information during the learning process. Generally not used to measure long term outcomes; rather, it is used to measure whether students learned what was just taught before moving on to instructional next steps Formal- Graded Informal- Observations
Diagnostic Assessment
Provide instructors with information about student's prior knowledge and misconceptions before beginning a learning activity. They also provide a baseline for understanding how much learning has taken place after the learning activity is completed. Finds a problem,
does not tell us what to do with the problem.
Benchmark Assessment Short tests administered throughout the school year that give teachers immediate feedback on how students are meeting academic standards. Regular use of benchmark assessments is seen by many as a tool to measure student growth and design curriculum to meet individual learning need Short Test, GOAL, measurement Not about points. They are very specific, use them in the RTII (Response to Intervention and Instruction) More about the teachers, then it is about the child.
