The student wrote a letter to the Dean of Academics at NIT Durgapur noting an inconsistency in the provisional results for the 8th semester B.Tech examination. While some students achieved a CGPA higher than 8 and did not have to appear for any supplementary exams, they were not awarded a "Distinction" in their results. The student requested that the Dean look into this matter as the reason for this was not clear or provided in the provisional results.

NIT Durgapur, Mahatma Gandhi Avenue, Durgapur-713209. Date: 05/06/2014 Sub: Inconsistency in Provisional Results Respected Sir, I, (Hemant Agarwal - 10/ME/126), would like to bring to your kind notice the inconsistency in the declared Provisional Results, for 8 th Semester B.Tech. Examination. It has been seen that even after achieving a CGPA higher than 8 and not having had to appear for a Supplementary Examination in any Subject in the entire duration of college, many students have not been awarded Distinction in their results. The reason for this is not clear and no reason has been listed in the Provisional Results. Sir we will be very grateful if you can look into the aforementioned matter. Thanking you in anticipation, Yours Obediently, _______________ (Hemant Agarwal 10/ME/126)
