Math Jam Reflection
At my Math Jam experience, I was very thrilled to find people just like me who were
adjusting to college and needed a quick refresher on math, and a chance to meet new people. I
thought college was going to be mostly lectures and individual work, but Math Jam made me
feel really comfortable in a familiar environment, making lots of friends and doing lots of fun
group activities. It did not make me feel disconnected or bored, but instead gave me a fresh new
environment to resume my education. I always thought Pasadena City College was just like a
prep school, but now I understand differently that it is really here for people who want to succeed
and move ahead with their life through education.
One of the best parts about Math Jam was my tutor, Antron. Antron was a really great
tutor because he tried to make all the students that were in his class feel comfortable and happy
throughout the entire week. We did many fun activities and interacted with lots of different
groups throughout the entire week. A resource I found during Math Jam was the Shatford
Library. I did not know how many available resources there were until I walked in and
discovered many great books and areas that are great for studying. I often go to the library to
study or meet with friends, and it is a great environment. The serene and calm sections of the
library help encourage productive working while at the library. This semester I will continue to
use it as a place for me to study while I am on campus and have time to spare.

Overall, Math Jam was a great experience for me because it really helped the transition to
college while helping to refresh old memories of math. I would definitely recommend the library
to any other students who need a place to study or to relax. I am glad that I had Math Jam, a great
tutor, and discovered such a great resource on campus to help me in this next part of my future.
