MANASAMANTHANA, VERVE, MILAN etc. We have taken special care to improve their communication skills through the training imparted by
the GAVEL CLUB, and most of them have secured the International Gavelier Certificate. RURAL EXPOSURE Programme was another
opportunity they had in experiencing simple frugal lives of our village folk while staying in remote villages of Mundgod and Haliyal in North
Karnataka. I am really happy to present this batch of MBA students for your selection. I am sure you will find them to be men and women of

Aloysius Institute of Business Management & Information
Technology (AIMIT) is a member of XAMI (Xavier Association of
Management Institutes), India, which has prestigious B-Schools
like XLRI and XIMB as members. AIMIT is also a member of IJABS,
The International Jesuit Association of Business Schools.
St. Aloysius College, with a history of 130 years started the MBA
programme at AIMIT in 2004. The course is affiliated to
Mangalore University and approved by AICTE. The alumni of
AIMIT have been placed at reputed organizations like ICICI Bank,
ICICI Pru, Federal Bank, IDBI Bank, South Indian Bank, Vijaya
Bank, Infosys, Thomson Financials, Reuters, Kotak Securities,
HDFC Bank etc.
St. Aloysius College is accredited by NAAC by 'A' grade.
Admission to the MBA programme is based on performance in the
under-graduate programme and the score obtained in
MAT/XAT/KMAT/PGCET.
COURSE WORK AND TEACHING PEDAGOGY:
Having received the autonomous status, the institute has strived
hard to bridge the gap between academics and industry by
updating the curriculum of the two year programme, such that it
not only imparts knowledge but also trains the students to

develop specialized skills and build positive attitudes in order to
assist them grow as competent and responsible corporate citizens.
The curriculum emphasizes conceptual & analytical reasoning and
provides the students insights into the business world and its
environment. Importance is given to self-learning, creativity and
continuous interaction with the faculty, practitioners and among
the students themselves.
The syllabus is supplemented with extra courses and practical
sessions for effective use of IT in Management as well as soft skills.
The Institute uses modern teaching pedagogy with a mixture of
lectures, seminars, class discussions, power point presentations,
role play, case method, assignments, group discussions and
games. The interaction with experts from the field helps students
to get practical insight into business problems. The Institute offers
additional value added courses in order to equip our students'

FACILITIES:
AIMIT offers excellent facilities to the
students. Well equipped spacious class
rooms, seminar rooms with video projection
system give a very good ambience for study.
The library has a very good collection of
books on Management and Information
Technology. The library also subscribes to
National and International journals and
magazines.
Students have free access to the high speed
WiFi broad band Internet facility. Computer
lab with 120 high speed computers is at the
disposal of MBA students for their class
work and extra courses in Information
Technology. MS Office applications,
accounting and statistical tools like SPSS
packages are taught during regular
practical sessions.
To enhance the quality of our students, a
course in French is organized. This would
come in handy in the globalized situation of
today. The language laboratory of the
College conducts training and also
organizes regular courses in written and oral
communication skills to our students. The
Institute has been conducting MDP and EDP
programmes on regular basis. This helps the
Institute to update itself with the needs of
the business world.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE:
Semester Based System: Each Academic year
is divided in to two academic semesters.
SPECIALIZATION OFFERED:
Students choose Marketing, Finance or
Human Resource electives. In the current
batch, 26% students have opted for
Marketing, 52% students for Finance and
22% students for Human Resource electives.
RURAL EXPOSURE:
In keeping with the motto - “shine and burn”
- of the Institution, the students of AIMIT
spend a week in a rural area at the end of the
first semester, living in groups of six to ten
and share the simple lives of the people. This
year the students stayed in Mundgod and
Anekal. This helps our students to develop
proper perspectives in life.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES:
The MBA students organize State/South India
level Management Fest “VERVE” every year.
They have also organized
“MANASAMANTHANA”, Paper Presentation
Programme and “SANJEEVINI” - the Blood
Donation camp. MBA students also organized
“PRAGATHI”, a symposium on Ecology and
Development in Coastal Karnataka. Organizing
such programs has helped our students to
acquire skills in organization, team work,
communication and event management.
Students are also encouraged to participate in
Management Fests and Technical Paper
presentations conducted by other B-Schools in
and around south India.
SUMMER PLACEMENTS:
At the end of the first year students are
required to undergo SUMMER PLACEMENT
by working in an organization for about eight
to ten weeks. This helps our students to apply
management education to the realities of
business and industry. Every student is
expected to submit a report for evaluation on
his/her findings and share this experience
with other students.

Doctorate in the area of Marketing, the topic being“An Empirical Study on Brand Switching of Soft Drinks among college
students in Mangalore, Karnataka. She has passed the State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) U.G.C accredited. She has served
as a lecturer for 10years at Holy Cross College (Autonomous) Trichy, teaching both undergraduate and post graduate
students in commerce. She later joined the B.B.M department at St Aloysius College, Mangalore where she taught B.B.M

Practitioners A study with reference to large and medium scale industries in Karnataka State”. She has served as a lecturer

and a senior lecturer in Business Management at St Aloysius College, Mangalore. She has presented and published in

Santhosh Shanbhag is a Faculty of Marketing in Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology
(AIMIT), Mangalore. He has his Master Degree in Business Administration from the Visvesvaraya Technological
University, Belgaum. His areas of interest are in Marketing Management, Economics, Strategic Management
Advertisement, International Marketing Management, Rural Marketing etc. Mr. Santhosh has presented several papers
in National and International seminars. He has a work experience in an FMCG industry. He is a writer and has to his
credit 6 books spanning over Management and Economics. His books include Marketing Management, Modern
Marketing, International Trade and Finance-Part I and Part II, Money and Public Finance and Export Management.

Ms.Sumitha Achar has her Post Graduation degree in Statistics from Mangalore University. She has a strong exposure in

imparting practical knowledge on various statistical packages to facilitate their project report preparation. She has
presented papers both at National and International Seminars and also published papers in journals of repute. Besides

Prof. T.Ramesh. Kamath, the Dean and Head of the Department of Business Management at St.Aloysius College, Mangalore was
the Senior Executive of the Syndicate Bank. He has conducted training for bank employees and was the Principal of their training
college for 8 years at their training colleges at Mysore and Delhi. He also worked as a Personnel Manager at the bank's corporate
office for about 9 years and retired as Asst. General Manager in charge of training at Apex Level for Executives. Prof .Kamath was
the Associate Faculty for M.B.A courses at Delhi University, Management Development Institute Gurgaon, TAPMI- Manipal,
Kausali Institute of Management Dharwad, Krishna Devaraya University A.P and Mangalore University, Mangalore. He was also
the Guest Faculty for Moti-Mahal College of Hotel Management (Mangalore), Sri Devi College of Hotel Management
(Mangalore), and Sri Devi College of Physiotherapy (Mangalore), Staff Training Colleges of Various Nationalized Banks; presently

Prof. Edmund Frank joined the teaching faculty after 20 years of field experience as a Professional Manager in India and abroad.
He has traveled abroad extensively on official assignments with industry visits in Tokyo, Manila, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok
and the Middle-East. He has written books on Industry Management and Business Management. He was the former Chairman of
the Xavier Education Trust and Industrial Training Institute, Konaje, Member of the Governing Board and Chairman of the College
Betterment Committee of St. Joseph Engineering College, Mangalore, Vice-president of SACAA, Former Vice Chairman of the
MCC Bank Ltd and Chairman of SK District PFCS Ltd. He is the Alumni of St.Aloysius College, Mangalore, Loyola College, Chennai,

Mrs. Marjori Aranha Texeira at Aloysius Institute of Business Management and Information Technology (AIMIT) handles

20 years, as a Senior Manager for Karnataka Bank Ltd and HDFC bank. She has varied experience in the field of Finance

programmes offered by St Aloysius College (AUTONOMOUS), Mangalore. The independent campus which is

class Management and IT Institute, St Aloysius College has launched this initiative. The campus has a beautiful
ADMIN BLOCK patterned on the classical architecture of the 130 years old Aloysian campus. The Admin Block
also has state of the art air conditioned AUDITORIUM, the Institute Offices and the office of the Director. The
ACADEMIC BLOCK, which is very spacious and modern, has well equipped class rooms and air-conditioned
lecture halls and the faculty rooms. The block adjacent to the academic block houses six large, air-conditioned
computer laboratories. The same block has two large floors of library with air-conditioned reading rooms. The
library is open till late hours at night to enable students to refer to books, journals and the Internet. The same
block also has two large halls for students activities. Realizing the need for promoting leadership among
students and also with a view to place AIMIT among the best ten Business Schools in India, St Aloysius College
has embarked upon this ambitious project.

Students of the Business School are expected to stay on campus and provision is there for others also to stay on
campus. Students have excellent residential facilities with bath attached rooms. In the second phase of the
construction more facilities, like the indoor-basketball stadium, swimming pool, Management Development
Centre, more faculty houses and students residences are expected to be built. AIMIT offers MBA, MCA,
MS(Software Technology) and M Sc(Bioinformatics) programmes of St Aloysius College (AUTONOMOUS).
The MBA programme is ranked among the best in India. The Institute is planning to have twining programmes
with some of the prestigious B-Schools in US.

AIMIT will also offer choice-based credit system from the next academic year, giving a lot of flexibility to
