Target Audience

After producing an initial idea based around the themes of anonymity, inner struggle and
murder within society, we decided how we were going plan to shoot the video. We decided that
it will be shot in the style of Film Noir but it will be brought up to date with a mix of modern
locations and greater colour grading with the use of black and white. The product of this will be
a very stylistic, weird representation of Bonobos The Traitor. We are aiming to tap into the
already existing fan base of Bonobo and the style of music, mainly males and females aged from
13-24 as his music is enjoyed by most people. The piece of music we have chosen to make a
video for doesnt have any lyrics, meaning age restrictions arent a problem so we can open our
production up to a larger audience. But the younger audiences wouldnt appreciate/understand
the nature of the song. The lack of lyrics in The traitor also allows the audience to interpret the
intentions of the song and our video in their own personal way. Our video will not be catered to
a specific genre as his music is a hybrid of many, but instead we will try to make it visually
engaging and for all. The narrative will keep people guessing at all ages throughout our target
audience.
Case study
Thomas Lee is a 17 year old male film enthusiast. He is a part of a production
company and appreciates a range of film techniques and styles. He is very musically
aware and gifted playing several instruments like the drums, guitar and bass. In
order to draw him into our production it would need to include an interesting variety
of unusual angles, innovative use of shots and frequent, contemporary editing point
editing. He has an open taste in music and he is very open-minded towards trying
new music genres and bands.
