physicians. Other Medical Care Providers
include Dentist, Pharmacist, Nurses,
Dietitians, and Therapist.
Financing

Private Financing
This includes self pay, insurance,
or health maintenance
organization (HMO).
Public Financing
Paid for by the government,
includes:
Medicare Provides funds for the
elderly 65 years of age and older
and the disabled.
Medicaid/CHIP provides funds
for low income individuals and
families, children, and pregnant
woman.
Inpatient Care
Takes Place in a hospital involving an
overnight stay.
Long Term Services
Are offered for individuals who
are not capable of caring for
their daily needs in addition to
medical needs. This could be due
to disability, injury, or old age.

PROFESSIONALS
Primary Care
Are services offered by a medical
provider including preventative care as
well as treatment of illness or injury.
Primary Care is usually on an
outpatient basis, at an ofce or clinic.
Out patient care
This also includes specialized care
beyond that from your family
doctor.
