Traditional stories, fables, myths and
legends:
Read range of myths, legends, fables and
traditional stories. Explore several different
versions of same story.
Plan and write a new version of a
myth/legend/fable/traditional tale and share
orally.
Poetic style:
Explore word play, rhyme, metaphor and word
choice through a range of texts.
Significant childrens authors:
Read stories by significant childrens authors
and explore aspects of the authors style.
Plan and write a story in the style of a
significant author.
Instruction writing:
Children will use information skills to research
and explain how to make their own yoghurt
based product.
Spelling, reading, handwriting and grammar is
ongoing.
Weekly spelling tests.
Maths
Counting, partitioning and
calculating.
Solve one step and two step problems.
Continue number sequences. Partition,
round and order 7 digit numbers.

Securing number facts,
understanding shape
Visualise 3-D objects from 2-D
drawings; make nets of common solids
Handling data and measures
Answer a question by identifying what
data to collect; organise, present,
analyse and interpret the data in tables,
diagrams, tally charts, pictograms and
bar charts, using ICT where
