6th Grade Parents,

I hope youve all had a great summer, because autumn officially begins at 10:29 PM tomorrow,
and Fall is certainly in the air (and on the ground in my yard in the form of leaves!)
Thank you for spending some quality time with me this week at our parent conferences
discussing our classroom and your child; if you still have any unasked or unanswered questions,
please dont hesitate to contact me. Regarding curriculum and grades, our course of study and
your childs progress are available anytime on the online Jupiter gradebook; if you have
misplaced your logon information please contact the office.

We have an exciting couple of weeks ahead of us, including:
! building a Paleolithic hut from mammoth bones and animal hides
! a field trip to the planetarium at ETSU on 9/29 please return permission forms if you
have not done so, and drivers please ensure that the office has your current license and
insurance information.
! our first Classroom Economy auction at the end of the month donations of small
auction items of interest to multiple students is much appreciated!
! a workshop with master storyteller Bil Lepp on 10/2 - the day before he entertains
thousands at the National Storytelling Festival (see the announcement from Ms. Harr for
more details)

As for last week, if your child is a bit reticent when it comes to conversations regarding school,
try asking them about:
! Dr. Ernenweins talk on her discoveries at the ancient city of Petra in Jordan using
ground penetrating radar (featured on PBSs National Geographic Time Scanners
series)
! Dr. Reachs entertaining and informative presentation on the history of computers
! the self-confidence workshop presented by Olsens Martial Arts (and breaking a board!)
! using Mr. Macs power sander to make their book crates as smooth as a babys behind!

Remember miss a day, miss a lot!

Mr. Mac
